Far Cry 2

How do you locate your own UBI login password for Far Cry 2 Multiplayer?
I've got Far Cry 2 Retail DVD version. Obviously it should be the same for steam version as you login with your Ubisoft account to play multiplayer.

However, I've got a strange problem. It logs me in fine no problem. The password is in asterisks (*). I can login fine. But I can't remember what my password was as it was something I used years ago!

The strange thing is that it appears that the Uplay account password is different from the password used in game. When I changed my Uplay password, I could not login to Far Cry 2 using the newly changed password!

However, luckily for me I have the Far Cry 2 GamerProfile.xml file backed up from My Documents, so putting it back in helps me login to the Multiplayer. But I can't figure out what the password was. A quick google search tells me that the Far Cry 2 uses a legacy Ubisoft account that is separate from the account used to login to Uplay.

Does anyone know how you locate the Ubisoft legacy account password?

Your best bet would be contacting Ubi support for help.

Also FC2's multiplayer is dead unless you're planning an organized round with friends.

I just tested again after a few minutes and it allowed me to login. Basically the game allows you to login with any password you throw at it! Even if you put only a single letter or number as your password it lets you login! Very weird!

So long as you have a valid serial number entered, it will let you in with any random password and username. However, if you repeatedly login, logout then login will fail giving you the impression that the password is wrong.

But after a few minutes it will allow you to login again.
I just played Multiplayer there were 22 people online in the Player Match dedicated servers. But for ranked match it requires punkbuster which I have not got installed. So haven't tried that yet.

But I'm assuming the multiplayer is really dead. Too few people online, so I might not bother.

Plus it doesn't allow me to download maps in game, says that there is a problem with the Far Cry 2 Server. But that of-course is a separate issue from what I had with the password.

Interesting to know, apparently Ubi doesn't care about their older games.

Let it rest buddy. Enjoy FC2's campaign.
