[EDIT] - Actually loved Vaas but hated the screen clutter lens-flare crafting
menu maintenance *poker* - *radar* - linear mission design with a terrible
protagonist ridiculous fire monster even more ridiculous syringes and totally
conscience-bereft 'save' system.
Otherwise a great game - once you get all the bs missions out of the way
and can reset the outposts.
Played it pretty solidly for almost 3 years; An explorers dream.
What saved it for me was Redux for Far Cry 3, which removes lens flare
and manually removing ALL of the hud, blinking objects, and also using
the holster all weapons patch.
Because of all the above in my book Ubi crashed out from 3 on. [E]
I would agree if I hadn't known people very much like that.
Almost beat the game on infamous and you're right it is boring for the reasons you mentioned/
It's more immersive than later FC games IMO, and the AI while not fantastic is way better than the blind dummies in FC3, 4 and 5. Over several years I've played this game numerous times on Infamous and for those that don't like it I say "You ain't playin' it right!" or find something easy to satisfy you.
It was ahead of its time when released and still stacks up today. And I can't understand why some folk hate the malaria thing. It's part of the experience, geddit?
The AI is dumb, and sometimes they activate some wall-hack. Then goes after you with their cars or stop for some reason in front of you when you're in your car.
The missions are just "go A to B", without something new in your way. Fix the car... Take malaria pills... Kill some guys... capture a camp... gather a diamond... Receive a call about a mission... dies from nowhere and do a mission that last from 10 or 15 minutes all again because there's no checkpoint...
The characters who gives you a mission feels like I'm playing some type of MMORPG, because they seems to have no personality, what made me ignore easily them and not caring about who they are.
The only thing good about this game is the details they add in, like the fire consuming the trees and grass...
I remember vividly when I first played FC5 (a mistake to buy absolutely) I could not believe how simple it was to sneak up and dispatch the enemy. In fact you don't need to sneak at all - just walk right up alongside and club them! Ubisoft created some artificial difficulty cr@p in that game, like being kidnapped out of the blue and having to run a timed challenge like a demented jerk.
Hey, if you don't like FC2 then okay. But it beats the hell out of crafting, comic enemies, hilarious aggressive wildlife (including skunks!), numerous cut scenes and always instructions on what to do next. FC2 leaves it up to the player. You choose. And can't you just FEEL the immersion with the environment?
It's G-R-E-E-A-A T-T !!!
