I don't actually have a problem with how they talk, except some rare instances where some of your buddies will talk calmly one line and then start shouting out of nowhere in the next.
I've been testing the first hour of the game ad nauseam lately, and the way Michelle says "You are sick you have malaria" with no pause cracks me up.
On the flip side, Purefoy is probably one of my favorite voiced NPCs of all time.
Audio editing in this game is a huge pain, and almost inaccessible due to the proprietary formats.
Yeah, I had this idea of editing the Jackal and Predecessor tapes and replacing them with music, but the process is so convoluted and complicated I just gave up, even with help I just can't figure it out.
Not even sure where the dialogue is stored, probably easier to follow the path in other languages first and figuring it out.
So it wasn't all after the fact, or done in post.
African people tend to speak faster, I knew a few and they really speak like in the game, and then there is the situation of high stress for everyone, in fact you can hear how they all talk more relaxed when in town without fights going on, bottom line, it´s intentional and part of the authentic vibe of the game Imo.
there is also the chance that soldiers are under speed or something, drugs are in town obviously, there is at least a mission you have to assassinate a drug dealer so yeah, on top of it all everyone is probably taking speed/amphetamine, that´s why they talk so hasty lol
I'm not surprised to hear it, a shame though.
Interesting. Out of curiosity, you spoke with the VA for which character?
Jackal definitely does not speak at normal speed, but I do agree that some of the characters seem like they got better voice direction than the others (Andre, Voorhees, Greaves, Purefoy to mention a few).
plus, like I said he probably taking drugs himself like everyone else in this game, it´s a really harsh and brutal life he´s been having as a weapons dealer down the heart of darkness... so he is probably helping himself with a bit of stuff to carry on with all the madness he is going through...
anyway here´s the Jackal tapes, I don´t think he speaks way too fast or something:

and btw. enemies chat in this game is really hilarious and quite varied:

Most characters, especially antagonists, in FC5 and 6, and in 3 and 4 to a lesser extent, feel like they're on stage, performing a play.
OP, I spoke with Purefoy's English voice actor. Really great character, IMO. My fav of the starting four, for sure.
Ah, I should've guessed it. That guy also voices Sam Fisher in R6S and is pretty active with Ubisoft fans afaik.
The only good char in FC6 is Esposito and a very few others Imo but boy the resistance in general is unbearable, a bunch of annoying and whiny clowns basically, terrible writing, cringe fest.
FC5 Joseph was kinda okay in his role and the other chars are at least somewhat funny/interesting but yeah nothing really too authentic…
FC4 I really never liked Pagan Min too much or the other chars in general…pretty bland.
FC3 we know Vaas was good, the rest okay..
FC2, let´s cut the crap to a minimum, love it lol
