I think they missed that one tho.
You can't hold a weapon when using the map so the Iron Sights control is ideal
because it's what's used for 'zoom' in the game - even when holding the machete.
!
I've been playing with a bit of a handicap for many years.
I can't use fixed mounted guns or the ones on boats because the "Exit" command isn't
recognized no matter what key I remap it to. - I can only use the ones in land vehicles,
and have to switch back to the drivers seat to exit.
If I accidentally hit 'interact' in front of a mounted gun - which is easy to do in boats,
I'm glued to it and have to quit.
Just finished the Explosives at the Mine, Blew the Pump and then the Pipeline, ran
down to the boat, hopped in - and in my haste hit the 'go' button just a little too
close to the mounted gun.
Usually isn't a big deal but my last save was on the approach to the Mine. - My bad /8-b
You can fix this by removing your key remap file in App Data, and making the change with the mod tools.
Fortunately, for me, my driving controls are A (acc), X (brakes), C (lights), Space (handbrake), Left Alt (switch to driver seat or gun), Steer (left and right arrow keys).. so the 'E' is kinda ergonomic anyway.
- I've been hesitant to open up that bag- can't afford to get hooked on modding, and
once I have the tools, well.. - Have to fix this, so I guess it's time.. I'll just have to resist
the temptation for now. - Working on a huge Art cataloging project for the next few
months.
- Thanks for the fix ! - That problem has nagged me for ages 8'b
Wow. - I use one hand to drive so i can use the mouse to look around at the same time.
left hand
I use the mouse buttons for Fire / Jump, and wheel for Select Weapon.
right hand
---Index----------- Middle --------- Ring
Left - Insert, Forward - Home, Right - Page Up
---------------Reverse - End---------------------
also use Index for Enter=Activate
Thumb for RShift=Reload/Unjam/Toggle Map Zoom, RCtrl=Sprint.
Pinky on the numeric key pad
7=Zoom, 8=Throw, 9=Select Throwable,
4=Crouch/Toggle Drivers Seat to Gun, 5=Heal, 6=Map,
1=Exit Vehicle/Fixed Weapon.
I'd have serious trouble playing if I couldn't look around while driving..
[EDIT] This is also why i can't play Rockstar games 8'P [E]
While driving I can free look with the mouse and LMB to centre view. The NumPad bottom half is for weapon selection and throwables. So essentially left hand does all of that, with right hand on mouse. LMB to fire, RMB for forward, Mouse side-button for Actions.
Ain't it interesting how folks set up their keybinds tho?
afraid that you were handicapping yourself - I shoulda known better ! 8 )
Ya, my key binds are pretty unusual, especially for a right-hander. - I'm heavily trained
on fingerpick guitar so my right hand has become a nimble wizard for maneuvering.
Left hand plays mostly chords and the movements are less complex and more basic,
fine for handling Look, Aim, Jump and Fire with the mouse.
My right-handed friends were in disbelief that the config was viable, but I played
Unreal Tourney 1 on 1 against an early champion, Wm. R. Vallone Esq. in 2007.
He conceded in 5 minutes at a 12 to 0 shutout. - Whatever works, man.. ; )
(also - I was trained by 3 high school age twitch freaks who teamed up against me
and hunted me mercilessly in DOOM for about three months before I could hold
them off and eventually become the one to avoid)
- Bless their little ruthless black hearts - ! ; )
With configs on floppies anyone could play on any machine.
The three in the living room could see each other's screens and the 'kitchen guy' was on his own and had 30 secs to gather as much as possible before the other three came looking.
we called it "hunt the c*nt"
:D
