Far Cry 2

Far Cry 2

27% Glitch solution found!
I nearly quit the game after attempting a 100% completion run and then running into the infamous 27% glitch. It's astounding that this glitch was never fixed by devs and years later it's still ruining peoples saves. There are some solutions online but most of the time you're out of luck.

I found a solution that works.

Specifically if you are entering the APR HQ and the upstairs room is closed. You can force the mission to start using a console command. Using the console, enter "devmodeon" without quotes. It will say unknown command but it will have activated dev mode anyway. Use tab to navigate down to the command "domino_A1SM02_apr". Press enter and you should enter a loading screen and you will find yourself infront of the church. Go back to the APR HQ and the door should now be open and you can finally play the mission.

You're forcing the game to start the mission and I assume this could be used for any other soft locks in the game. Although I don't know the commands to start those missions specifically. It would probably take some trial and error.

I haven't done much testing yet to see if this causes any issues down the line but for now I'm happy that I can continue playing.

I do use the Multifixer program which has the console enabled by default. You may need to start the game with a command perimeter to enable the console otherwise.

Hopefully this helps someone!

I've replayed the game quite a lot and i've never encountered such a bug. Thanks for sharing the workaround.

This is an important point. All versions of FC2 have the console enabled by default, but you must use Multifixer for the devmode to work properly.

The old fashioned way to fix this bug is to forcibly cycle through buddies, and do one of the new buddies missions (kill your current buddy, fast travel, go to mikes and do one of the new buddy's missions).

This is a really bizarre bug, too. I've been playing since release and never had it, other folks seem cursed to always encounter it.

Nice! - I haven't looked yet - but that command looks like "A1 Start Mission Over 02_api".

Unless there are many others in the list that read much the same - this command may just
clear and reload your current objective. - Domino sounds like a randomize command and
A1 could be location. - The 02_api might refer to difficulty level.

I suppose playing around with those numbers will demonstrate something,

Great call - Thanks !
hope you don't mind my archiving this ( a minor obsession ) ; )

- Best Wishes -

Finally, at least someone has found a worthy use for the devmode. :)
"Domino" - is the technical name of the game script subsystem.
A1 - Act 1
SM - single map?
APR - you know... fraction
You can explore scripts and what they do, just use Gibbed tools to extract resources.

This won't fix the Bug but it at least you can continue from where you got stuck.

Thank you to everyone who was able to provide their workaround for the 27% completion bug.

As you know the game has received its final major update a few years ago and any bugs that remain in the game will most likely not be addressed and remain in the game unless it is something that completely prevents the player from being able to complete the main story.

I apologize for any inconvenience that this bug may have caused you, as a disclaimer we must advise caution if downloading external files as a workaround, but thank you for sharing save files with one another,

It's been clearly noted that Ubi can't provide support to anything that alters game files.
Players have been regularly informed of Ubis' policy in this matter. - As they should be.

Thanks for your continued service.

Isn't a bit pathetic that ubi won't roll out a tiny update that would fix ALL of the major issues that people have with this game?

ALL of the work has already been done to identify the issue and fix it by a passionate community that doesn't even have source code access. Ubi just needs to look at the fix, recreate it, and then send out a patch. There's zero cost to do this on digital storefronts!

The game breaking patch is over ten years old now, and yet this game is still sold as-is. It's really unacceptable, IMO.

I agree completely. The work has already been done for them. - If not for the
community Ubi wouldn't continue to have nearly as many sales of this title, and
the fix would automatically diminish returns. - It just makes sense.. !

I'm really curious about what the actual numbers are.

For the record I'd like to know if FC2 is the only one of the series that requires
external adjustments or a mod that produces them to run with stability.

If no others in the series actually require external 'fixes' FC2 is kind of a blot on
their record, - The only one they crippled with a 'Final' patch and then abandoned
for the community to deal with.

Since the last patch - How much have complaints and returns increased - what is the
cost of handling those problems, and how much has that impacted sales over time ?

Ok, Ubi could do the right thing that would likely save them mucho $$ and repair their
rep. - They cant call it a 'Final' patch, but would a new one make them liars? - How
about a 'Legacy' patch to satisfy the customer, solve the problem for both the customer
and Ubi's pocketbook, and regain and solidify the integrity of the FC legacy. (?)

- Will that make sense to any in the Board Room? -

Revolutionazing a product is always going to take a toll on the resources. The series' embarked on a project with a limited budget when it needed the most.
