Uninstalling Punkbuster
So... I have zero plans for going on line and only play single player. So I don't want this junk cluttering up my system. I am on Windows 10. I went into Apps and Features, found Punkbuster, told it to uninstall, and I get an error

Windows cannot find "C:\Windows\System32\pbsvc.exe". Make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again.

So... I searched and found that Steam has installed that file to the SysWow64 folder, not System32. Typical of Steam. >.> Anyway. How in the hell do I uninstall this?

I've had it on my system for 25 years. - It's tiny, has no negative effects so I've let it be just
in case I decide to join in the MP experience.

It's easy to remove, but not with 'uninstall'.
Simply right click on the file and select 'Delete'.

- Best of Luck - with this great game - 8 )

If you wanna remove it completely, go to the Far Cry 2 folder and "Installers"
Then go to Punkbuster and start the setup, it will ask you to reinstall or uninstall it.

That's how you do it! :3

Hello BelGarion, as the game can no longer connect to our Ubisoft servers on PC after the server was retired, you should be able to uninstall the PunkBuster program as there is no online.

Please check for the local files by right-clicking on the game in Steam, go to Properties, then Browse local files, then follow the steps Darkstar gave above and click on the Punkbuster.exe file to start uninstalling the software.

You should also be able to press the Windows key, type uninstall, then select 'add or remove programs' - here you can search for PunkBuster and uninstall it from this menu too as it can also appear as an app.
