Bouncing NPCs *FIXES*
so after not long of playing this version ive run into points where I could not progress because the NPC would bounce and become disrputed. So here are some things that may help

1.Vsync on
2.Cap to 60fps
3.Lower to DirectX 9
4.Turn all settings as high as possible

the problem is, at least form what ive encounterd, is newer hardware runs the game way to fast and the NPCs (or engine it self) cant handle it. This is speculation but the fixes above usually work in most cases, if not then im not to sure what else could be done

My rig is a Ryzen 2700x and a GTX1080. I can run this game just fine. I just got to cap to 60 fps with the command in game console "gfx_maxfps 60" and use D3DOverrider too.

Try setting FPS to 75 with vsync off by adding the -RenderProfile_MaxFps 75 flag in Steam launch options for FC2. That fixed a few issues for me, including the no audio on some cell phone calls.

I was originally trying 60FPS and vsync, but still seemed a little off. 75FPS flag and no vsync seems to work better for me at least.

I run a 2700x+980Ti and this game really doesn't push too hard. I did push higher AA and AF through the GeForce console as well.

I also recommend checking out the Hunter's Aniverssary Mod for FC2, it's simple but effective and fixes a few things itself. https://www.moddb.com/mods/hunters-far-cry-2-update

It was Hunter that recommended I try the 75FPS flag, and so far so good on most issues! :)

more suggestions are always apreciated guys, im glad this game is actually getting more light shed on it. The only other thing ive actually dont to it is a color corection mod to get rid of the ugly orange/grey scalling.

For me it's very simple, always Vsync off until i meet a problem where i cant start a mission with a bouncing NPC, Turn vsync on for 60 fps, back off after...

I actually never had an issue with screen tearing with vsync off, i tried using forced vsync in the control panel and it seems to work fine

from my experience it varries from system to system, on mine i get jumps between 20 and 60 and i have a ryzen 5 1600x with a gtx1070ti...my buddy is running an fx8350 with a 980ti and his dips to 25 but stays around 30-40...both systems exceed the requirements

I use the multifixer patch from here to limit the fps to 60. Of course have the vsync on and refresh rate at 59/60. However I have a 75hz monitor and wondering if I need to lower it too.

There's no need for that.

This worked for me, thanks very much

Yea, I guess it also needs to be said that if you have a 75hz monitor, you can absolutely set the max fps to 75 in the multi-fixer launcher.

The important thing is to have a steady frame rate that is v-sync'd and doesn't get into triple digits.

It's just so much easier to say 60 since that's 99% of folks refresh rate.

If anyone has the chance to play FC2 on an old CRT with 75hz, do it! I still remember playing it at friend's house on the family's Sony FW900 @ 1200p75 and it was amazing.
