Win7 x64
Game runs fine if directly clicking the executable in the game folder (Far Cry 2 > bin).
Edit: So I've been trying for a few hours to get it to work, finally found a fix for me. Go into your running programs and close any programs that are capable of screen recording. For me it was NVIDIA geforce experience. After closing the program, game started up!
One thing that did work for me is right-clicking the game title in the list and choosing "play game" (instead of clicking "play" in Detail view). Started right up.
1. Verify Integrity of game cache. Look up how to do that if interested.
2. Launch the game directly from the exe in the installation folder, or create a desktop shortcut to the game's exe.
After I launched Far Cry 2 from the exe in the installation folder, from then on, I was able to launch Far Cry 2 from Steam.
