Able to Reset progress/remove all saves
Hey just wondering if there is a way to remove all the progress in the game and reset it to a vanilla state. Loved the game and want to play it with the gf but want it to be completely fresh. Thank you for any help

Right click game in library. Manage>browse local files. Navigate to game\saves. Delete everything there except steam_autocloud.

what's the difference between this and just clicking start game?

Just start a new game. The progress is not transferred between saves.

Go into the load menu, hover over a save with your mouse and press delete on your keyboard. It will ask you if you want to delete that save. No way to do them all at once though. But it won't do anything to steam achievements, ect. It'll just remove the save file.

Found it while trying to remove old saves because I couldn't remember which save was which.

As a feature of the engine, the game remembers which lines you've seen, between playthroughs. It is possible OP wishes this to be forgotten.

Also there'll be the completion tracker thingy in the upcoming Pristine Cut.

While there is a "persistent" file that keeps track of such things, it has no impact on the game. The decisions you make persist between "loops" in a playthrough, but when you actually start a new game, the slate is completely clean as far as that playthrough is concerned.

There are two save locations for the game (on Steam at least).
First the app data location (note that I'm not 100% sure of the numerics; but you should be able to identify the folder easily enough):
%APPDATA%\RenPy\SlaythePrincess-1651597024
Remove stuff from that folder.

Second the Steam install location also has both the game files AND the save files. Usually it's somewhere in your "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Slay the Princess" folder, but if you have more than one / different game storage location the path can be different.

Third, if you REALLY want a clean slate, you may want to remove your Steam achievements. You can find a guide here:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3084433243
The instructions will be largely the same with the only exception being the final app ID, which is 1989270 for Slay the Princess.

Finally, since the game uses cloud saves (and those are typically enabled by default), you should disable that feature prior to starting the game after clearing everything out. That way the game creates NEW save files. After those get created you can re-enable cloud saving and selecting your "newer" local saves when Steam asks you which files you want to keep.

For me, the first saves location option is at: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\RenPy\SlaythePrincess-1651597024

So, the only difference is that it is not " AppData\RenPy ", but " AppData\Roaming\RenPy ;)

I 'm playing it on Windows 11 Pro 64 - bit. Just to be of service ;)

Strange bcs this command is correct - %APPDATA%\RenPy\SlaythePrincess-1651597024

App data always have a Local,LocalLow,Roaming folder. It's a really strange if this command try seach a AppData\RenPy

Bcs It's from cmd command (%WORD%). %APPDATA% always open AppData\Roaming folder. Ofc ppl can write another one when press Win +R like (who will be very long ver)
%USERPROFILE%/AppData/Roaming/RenPy/SlaythePrincess-1651597024

%LocalAppData% (%UserProfile%/AppData/Local) for example open always Local in App Data and
a %APPDATA%\..\LocalLow to LocaLow ver ofc.

it's looks like Win 11 doing some bad thing, bcs this command very old like from Win 7 lmao ( or maybe even more like XP)

Regarding the posts above - it's fairly common for RenPy games to have one set of saves in appdata and one in the program folder itself. I'm not sure which predominates if there is a conflict.
