Sky in Your Eyes is a visual novel where you play as an internal intelligence officer stationed in Siberia named Slava who encounters a young illegal immigrant named Lena from a colony that is now under a "shoot on sight" order for its citizens. Lena was on her way to being sold as a prostitute in a neighboring country and escaped, only to be captured by Slava's fellow countrymen. The story follows the actions you take offer interrogating Lena and what you choose to do with her.

The story is fine. I never had a moment where I didn't enjoy the story, but I feel like the story was constructed quite poorly. The pacing is all over the place, and the various story points didn't pay off very well. This is especially evident near the conclusion of the story, where everyone breaks their assumed personalities the whole story helped build just for the sake of an unfulfilling plot point. It also doesn't help that every single answer choice leads to the same result. It simply presents the illusion of choice, which is very insulting, as the game calls itself a visual novel and is simply just a kinetic novel that tricks you into thinking you can make story-changing choices.

The art is something I feel a bit troubled about. I like the designs of the characters and background scenes, even if the clothes some of the characters wear make no sense for the location they live in or the situations presented in the story. Unfortunately, the designs just look really stiff to me, and the game also has the characters do slight animations in actions, such as moving their heads from side to side or jumping from surprise. You would think this would make the designs less stiff, but it actually puts further emphasis on the stiffness of the designs. It is hard to describe with words, but it essentially looks like a 2-D model moving like a 3-D model, which just feels jarring and uncanny. It also doesn't help that the characters seem to lag in their movements, which also adds to the uncanny feeling of the movements. There are also moments where the models just look outright scary for the wrong reasons, such as Lena blinking through her pupils.

The voice acting is not the best, but it is serviceable. The phrasing is very stiff, and sometimes the phrases don't even match with the text. However, I understand that this is a Russian game, so the English voice acting wouldn't be the greatest, as it seems like the English voicing is from Russian-speaking individuals. There are also a lot of grammatical and syntax errors scattered throughout the game's text, which doesn't bother me too much, but I thought I should mention this for those who care.

In the end, this "visual novel" had the potential to be something great, but the story became rushed near the end and had way too many other issues that I just couldn't overlook. I'll have to recommend against playing this game due to all of these factors.

In Sky in your eyes you play Slava, a Federal Security Service officer living in Siberia who has always done his duty in accordance with what he feels would benefitted the Motherland.


Growing up as an orphan, he knew the hardships in life and always did what was expected. However his conscience begins to be questioned when an orphaned girl named Lena from neighbouring Brightarus comes into his office. Should he stick to the rules and deal with her accordingly or is it time to finally act with a touch of humanity but at the risk of lives of those he cares for?

Coming from the same solo developer of Summer With You, Sky in your eyes brings about similar strengths and weaknesses that may be familiar to players familiar with the quality and style of the developer.


The artstyle follows similar quality of the previous titles, with characters nicely drawn with some chibi versions of the characters here and there. Animation-wise it may seem limited but you can see there’s a slight increase compared to previous titles. Due to the slightly added animation, when the characters are static, it seems more obvious and awkward at times because of the contrast.

Story-wise Sky in your eyes started off well in building the backstory of the characters within the game. You’re invested in their history and what they are about, even for characters that aren’t shown but are present in the dialogue. Which is why the last quarter of the game didn’t do justice to the build up. Everything near the ending felt way too rushed and sudden that it might leave you feeling underwhelmed.

Some minor QC in terms of mistranslation and grammatical errors, the story will only be better at delivering. Together with some decent amid quirky voice acting once in a while, it helps bring to life the characters ever so slightly. Even with the last quarter being too short and abrupt, progress the developer has made from past titles are apparent and have made Sky in your eyes a better experience as a journey and how you handle it matters more than the consequence in the end.

Actually enjoy VN from this publisher, look forward for more. Always such interesting characters and developments. Crack a smile every time. Have other games from this developer, finding 'Alone with you' the best, 'Summer with You' the least enjoyed. And, unlike the rest, this VN actually has a save/load system desperately needed in the others.

Decent visuals, bad English translations and English Voice Acting. Though you can mute the voice acting. This isn't a visual novel, but a kinetic one where you are given choices which don't result in any different dialogue options or endings.

The writing is bad and the characters don't have enough personality do differentiate them from one another. And what little personality they do have gets abandoned with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ending.

The artist should have sold the CGs online instead of trying to make a half-assed kinetic novel which feel secondary to the art and animations that appear in random sequence without any coherent explanations.

TLDR: Very short kinetic novel with bad writing. Not worth it unless you want the 7 effortless steam achievements.

An incredible fascinating visual novel about the life of a officer from Siberia named Slava. Memorable characters and delightful graphics and sound design won't get you past this story.
