why cant i use blade

i keep trying to look it up, keep trying to look up a control scheme. even when i get blade cards i cant use it.

You need to click on a piece adjacent to you to be able to use it. However, you can only use it if your blade is equal to or more than that piece (current) health - so it's used for finishing off pieces only, not damaging them.
