A few gripes about the current state of the game:
The recent update has injected plenty of new life into this game, but there's a couple things that I feel aren't as good as they could be -
1: Build choice/control. It feels annoyingly common to be picking the lesser of two evils when selecting cards, and I've had a lot of runs where I just couldn't get a card I really wanted (bushido on the blade shotgun, unjust decree on the ammo shotgun, etc.) I don't know if this would be best fixed by some kind of rerolls or just more than 2 choices, but a single catch 22 choice can tank a run, especially with white cards. If I have 3 queens on the board and I get the choice of iron maidens or analysis paralysis... Yeah. Even worse when it's a useless black card and a bad white card or an actively negative black card and a mediocre white card.
2: The unreliability of folly shields. You know what sucks? Shooting a pawn and getting instakilled by a bishop/rook from across the board. It'd make sense if the game was trying to really be proper chess, but with folly shields in the game, it feels contradictory. Same deal with jank like getting instakilled by a bad castle or knockback. Maybe there could be some kind of punishment that isn't just losing for these cases? deactivating a folly shield or card or something.
3: Shotgun balance. Default is great, precision is great, ammo is niche but okay, knockback is awful, blade is incredibly rng dependent. Knockback is just not a very good mechanic in the first place, and only having a 50% chance makes it worse. The extra spread and reduced power on ammo makes actually killing things a chore without the right cards, and blade is practically a straight downgrade until you get other blade increases - especially bushido.
4: Miscellaneous UI junk. Unskippable opening cutscene that replays when you resign, no option to restart a run without dying or going all the way back to the main menu. Slows down the game a lot at awkward times.

All that aside, though, I'm really happy with the new content.

The thing which annoys me the most now is that you have to hover over cards to check them rather than getting text all over the screen right away ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I agree with the bad choices thing rerolls would be nice

I don't think you can die to knockback anymore, I thought one of the patch notes mentioned fixing that.

Could be. You can definitely die to knockback moving an enemy out of the way of another enemy - even more finicky than killing an enemy since it only takes 1 bullet for any hp and is extra random.

I think having so many new cards in the pool also made it harder to go for specific builds.
Pff They will never fix #2 its apparently a feature despite it makes having shields a hazard more than anything.

Here have a safeguard that isn't safe in a game that isn't chess lol

I feel like you have to get SUPREMELY lucky to have a chance now. SO MANY new cards constantly having new units spawn. It doesnt feel as strategic anymore like a game of chess wiht a shotgun king should be. It feels like a mad dash to kill off as many units as you can before new ones spawn.

The only reason i was able to beat my first run was with Nakeda and bushido, and not having cards where new units spawn CONSTANTLY. Being able to take extra turns to kill units off on top of extra turns from taunting jump, and the pentagrams helped me.

The game is fun with the new content but man it feels alot more artifically difficult. Especially considering you dont get many Max shells in the tube upgrades anymore, let alone any real Firepower upgrades without losing your firing arc. The board feels too small to do anything meaningful without being overrun by pawns evolving.

it needs a reroll for both sides cause I dont see a single reroll working for the + and - the cards offer.
Right now the white and even some black cards are too punishing when you look at the full cardpool in an average game
-1 power cards are too abundant (even black ones)
+1 pawn health
the two new +power cards make the game slower, while overpowered if you stall they don't help with the lack of +power cards (pentagram/maelstrom)

there are several cards both black and white that i simply can't take because they make your run slowly whither away or make the game unfun to play (any -power, sawed-off)

a quick patch to fix the gameplay would be 3 choises instead of one, or being able to shuffle black/white cards in the options your given

IMO the biggest problem with Throne Mode is pieces getting more hp being the one of the big ways that difficulty is increased. On the higher ranks, Knights have 4 hp and Rooks get like 8 (I think it was 9 on Rank 15), how are you supposed to do that with one of the 3 firepower guns?
