That one F-word seems really unnecessary
This may be nitpicky, but one detail that bugs me is the fact that during the narration before floor 12, the game just randomly drops an f-bomb for no good reason.

The game is otherwise completely devoid of swearing and is relatively family-friendly (all the shotgun tomfoolery notwithstanding), so it seems really out of place to me for it to just randomly drop an uncensored f-word like this. May I suggest replacing it with "@#$%" or something along these lines? That would seem a lot more fitting with the rest of the game.

usage of %$#$ would ruin the effect, but there could be a setting

You can edit the language-stuff in the games files. Every language has a .txt for it.

a language filter could work if it's just that instance

agreed - my kids like this game so would be good to replace it

You're cool with blowing away fictional characters with a shotgun but the F word is going too far.

Dang. When did society get like this? Violence okay as long as Civility.
This stood out to me too. Not only was it tonally inconsistent, it's not serving any joke. My thought was that it was a localization issue -- if the developers are French, I think ♥♥♥♥ is an inelegant translation of what was probably something more contextually fitted.

They should patch it out. I think @#$% would be funnier anyway.

Yeah. Kids can tell cartoon fiction from reality quite well.

They're also good at noticing words you shouldn't say. And at spotting parents being hypocritical. When you don't allow them to swear, they'll notice it.

Society has been like this for as long as I've been alive. It doesn't make any sense but it's not new.

dang I guess the game should be properly rated M then, imagine a kid reading the word ♥♥♥♥, that'd ruin them, or even worse: make the parents have to educate their child!!! the horror.

Point being that it's something so stupid to argue over, who cares if there's a "♥♥♥♥" in the game? you can be sure that a kid is going to read it eventually, you can't keep them safe from the f-word forever, but what you CAN do is just not make such a fuss about it and educate your child properly.

And if the complaint is not because of children but just because one, as an adult, cannot read the word without cringing from the terrible impact it had on them, then just grow up lmfao.

As if the internet doesn't show all this to kids already ..

Not to mention the plot of infidelity of the Queen leaving him for the other Bigger King, (so yes shes technically a Size Queen), the homicide, the bullying of the Player portrayed as a hero character, being justified with excessive violence and control, the reaction of going postal.. the names of the cards ect ect.

Like I'll be honest this isn't a game for kids if that's your medium of parental blinders to guide against the F bomb.

The themes alone are pretty dark, not to mention the pieces about to move look like they are trembling more than indicating mobility.

Technically it would be rated M if it went anywhere near the ESRB or PEGI lol

Yeah, I feel like the one F-word isn't really necessary and is tonally inconsistent with the rest of the game.

I'd say as far as mature themes the game is full of them even if the language becomes censored. If we are going to pan it through a ratings filter you may as well give it a M for mature themes. When life gets you down for being a bully, shoot them all up when they walk away Is not a message of maturity.
It just enforces the concept of every shooting that has gone on. I mean you cant have both Censorship and E for everyone with out a ratings shift. Its either Mature or Teen themed. Removing one F bomb replacing it with Colorful symbols of ineffable nature signifying censorship the game retains the same themes of Columbine.

"Bully being bullied snap and then recessing to primitive anger".
A bad king loses subjects for being a bad king goes on a homicidal rampage to pick up the pieces and treat them bad / worse.

No matter how you spin this game its not a kids friendly game or teen friendly message,
ya may as well leave the F bomb in unless you are trying to get this on a console.
Not to mention the mechanics are not kid friendly with its frustrating RNG gun aim.
If you wanted this on Switch you would expect a M rating even with out the blood.

Now you could make a plot-less version and put it on mobile and instead of RNG aim and adult jokes on the card's to make it neutral. Then the game could sell without a age gate or controversy.

You're missing the point. The argument isn't about themes or content, it's that the language strikes some of us as internally inconsistent with the written story's tone. This makes it unnecessary.

For instance, if a novelist randomly included a single usage of a triple exclamation points (!!!), some readers would suggest taking it out for tonal consistency, because they don't want to stop to think about inconsistent writing while reading. It has nothing to do with whether the story has emphatic moments or exciting themes or not.

And whether or not the white king spins and rolls off the table doesn't change or add much to the story outside of the continued theme .. Dark comedy

Not sure the point aside assumed narration.. Its a goofy story of bad guy wins.. Not sure how the phrase oof or fook will turn the tide of King is dead any different..
You win.. Perfect!! *Blanka flipping in back ground
End scene
