(still mad about Mauskin getting removed from Starbound though)
Content....animations....some kind of story? A reason to carry some items around in general?
A reason to buy it over Slay the Spire? Some kind of Roguelike progression outside of "Haha you died start your build over"? Something more than just furries and the toxic fanbase surrounding that style?
"Little mouse against the odds proving everyone wrong" is your own headcannon. None of that is actually part of the story.
No, you're a mouse looking for "The ancient cheeses".
And you have a backpack that gets bigger the more things you kill.
If anything you're just mugging people in ruins, which is kind of like how the developer is more or less outright stealing the systems and effects and all of that from slay the spire with minimal changes, and reselling it to you for profit.
I was excited for this game because I adore roguelikes and games like slay the spire, but I expected there to be more to it than just "Press start, Joke intro, start playing."
I expected some sort of progression, some sort of reason to play rather than just following a straight line to the end of the game. But instead that's more or less what you get. No branching paths. No events. Just shopkeepers that constantly ask you for more gold than you've found in the entire run, and could have found even if you had sold everything you had on you every time you made it to a shop.
"But it's EA!" people will cry.
But they still charged you money to play it. EA doesn't matter when you're asking for an entry fee. You're subject to scrutiny of your product AS IS because you are selling it AS IS with the PROMISE to fix it later. A promise most developers do not keep.
the amount of salt that guy is dumping here is making me sick
Speaking of toxic...
It's not just early access, though, it's Kickstarter, which means they're kind of obligated to continue working on it until it's finished or they literally can't anymore, at the very least. And Jas is actually here, so that's already an improvement over the whole Mighty No. 9 debacle.
It's going to have all of that stuff, if you're willing to wait for it. If not, don't buy it in Early Access, or refund it if you already did, then forget about it and come back in a year.
Uh, there ARE branching paths and events....
How is it?
Delightful ehy?
