Why did the price go up?
Hard to justify $20 for such terrible graphics. Can't even read the font. Even the demo has bugs, etc. Do they really think it's worth that much?

I wish I knew, but it will probably be like We Happy Few and it will be caused by the publisher demanding a higher price tag for the game.
Even before that price increase, it was very expensive at $15 I think - it shows the price in CHF, not dollars for me, so It is a rough estimate.

The fact the you take into account graphics first instead of content probably says a lot about this kind of bias xd

Yeah it was $15.99 in USD before the increase, and on sale was $13.59 (looking at sales history websites). Now when it goes on sale 20% off will be $15.99 lol I probably won't buy. On Kickstarter, it was $12. So the price has gone up twice now.

Yeah if they're gonna ask $20 for a game, they should have more appealing graphics. The numbers and text is so godawful ugly and hard to read, nevermind everything else. Ugh.

Backpack Battles is much better. I wish they'd make a campaign mode like this game.

That's why you get it on sale. Or from the Kickstarter, where it was only $12, IIRC.

Except it's obviously no longer available on Kickstarter, lol. If I could get the game for $12 I probably would.

Going forward all the sales will likely be $15.99 USD, 20% off, the same price it used to be WITHOUT a sale. Basically a scam to get people to buy it, so I won't.

Not to mention it jumped in price by 2-5x in various regions. Sad, won't ever buy it now.

Inflation is a shame and a fact of life these days. Too bad the Fed bank was too happy to print money for the Fed government.

Not uncommon for games to be cheaper in EA compared to the full release

Honestly it's a great game, I like the aesthetics of it. The asking price is really, really cheap for what it is.

Do you have *any* idea how long it takes to make a game like that? A very, very long time. It can take years. Yes, even a small game like this.

Devs work full time on it for a long time. They deserve to get paid for their work.

You wouldn't have bought it anyway if that bothers you, you cheapstake. The game added plenty of content so of course it went up.
Early access games never stay the same price on the full release. So not sure what people expected really, it's not a new concept.

I believe the dev mentioned early on in Early Access that the price would go up and that buying the game while in Early Access would be cheaper. The cheaper price is so that players can get into the game before it's actually released and, hopefully, provide feedback to the dev. The dev can try different things, get feedback, and adjust accordingly. It's a win/win: Dev gets valuable feedback, players get early access at a cheap price.

I will mention that I am impressed at the amount of content added between Early Access and 1.0 full release. While others will decry the pixel graphics, the actual value is in the gameplay and replayability. I can see this game providing many, may hours of fun (and frustration!).

As already said above, balancing items for such a game doesn't happen in a few months. And you have to keep in mind that this is a game with a very long lifespan. At 100 hours of play, the game already only costs $0.2 per hour, making it much much cheaper than a session in a cinema.

As for the graphics, apart from the fact that it is above all a question of taste, it missed what makes the essence of this game, namely its well-oiled game mechanics which are rich in possibilities.
