my feedback for steam demo
hi the game is really cool :) and has interesting characters and mechanics too.

a few things that seemed to happen in my game were these:
- enemy planned actions for "healing", were bringing up an empty tooltip
- whetstone was showing several weapons highlighted as being boosted (when you mouse over it), but it wasnt actually boosting them, such as a shivs or lizard blade.
- glass bottle though, Was boosting/affecting the weapons, such as shiv.
- i was able to use the Statue Of Anna, but i wasnt able to understand the text wording properly but it was rather late at the time :)

suggestion:
most of the times i was trying the demo, it feels like im always having to only use/choose something of the rewards (which is ok because i can pick what seems to be better at the time) - But - i think we really need to unlock at least 1 or 2 extra backpack slots per upgrade (or upgrade more often, or at least to receive some xp for any Cowards who escape) because i almost can never use anything large like magic wands, or the related spell power items that they need, and most runs seem to usually be the same.

its still fun, but being able to utilise a bit more of all the cool stuff we find, i think will really allow a lot more to be experienced, and let us have more synergy with the items :)

The king fight has became a fun deadlock for me, might want to tweak the armor system or status effect because I keep stacking haste while he keeps stacking regen, this hilarity is bringing a grin to my face even if there is no end in sight. Jas you made a new favorite rougelike and especially deckbuilder for me

i havent been able to beat the end boss in the demo yet, but might try something with haste to see :)

So far i like the game.

My only ideas for improvement

A few of the build paths such as Buildings, magic, or archery feel to hard to get working before you just die, VS just grabbing a shield an thorns an (lucky) daggers.

I hope that in the future the replay allows for pre-start basic or earned items. That or a back pack or character option that starts out with some top, side an/or bottem starting gear, IE the "fighter" starts with a slot for a shield an only a shieldon either the left or right side. The Mason starts out with a line of spaces around the entire bag space for building, an only building items, stuff that makes a backpack or character more neat for replaying all of them.

I seen some of the items that get buffs from cursed items, but the curses them self other then "big curse" are all far to damaging or disabling to the player for the buffing items to even be of use in most cases.

But i have it on my wish list, I will most certainly check it out once it launches to see if the depth of an replay is good :).

Good methods for beating end boss include:

Source of haste + spikes and let them kill themself. Probably want haste from that one armor and get your spikes from shield stacking stuff

Arrows (to avoid spikes on King). Needs something like belt of knives or mouse wood to get enough damage + one of the better bows.

DoT like burn or poison. Several ways to do this, has potential if you want to run a structures build.

Magic with rage stacking (Won't work great on King without candle). This is basically a full inventory of mana + the wand that does more dps per stone + a book + rage on the wand = a pile of damage.

The highest damage build (at least in demo) is cleavers, but you need belt of knives, shield spirit, candle, lots of cleavers, and at least a duct tape or two which is super unlikely by floor 9.

ok thanks will see if i can find those.

i did have a good run when i got something that gives me free gold each battle, and a weapon that lets me make free attacks (as long as i have gold) :)

To be clear, Shield Spirit, Candle, and Belt of Knives are all boss relics, so it's impossible to get all three by floor 9. At least, it is in the demo build, IIRC. It doesn't have any dice items.

Lol, also, nice to see someone I know from the StS forums here. Did you Kickstart this, too?
