Always check origin shop for EA games, as you should check uplay shop for Ubisoft games before buying on steam...

It was when it was 5 bucks. 20 seems like a stretch right now, maybe 15 or 10, but I gotta say, this is a pretty game. So pretttyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. I'm liking it a lot so far, but I am VERY easy to please.

Don't pay more than...maybe $15, $20 is a stretch. And I love the game, I really do. I'd buy it again...but for $15 lol. You just dont want that nagging feeling after you bought it like "yeeeaaahh...i LIKE it...but do i $20 like it?" Money might ruin the very lovely game for you, idk.
Like everyone else, I have reasons to but, reasons not to buy, things i like, glitches and bugs i saw/see, but you're not asking for that. If you want to know, ask about it and Ill tell you.

This is by far one of the best games I have played, it is gorgeous, the story is disgustedly beautiful, and the controls are swift, for a person who hates hack and slash and in general dislikes EA, it came as an utter surprise to like this game. The activation is annoying, but only as annoying as an itch. I would say it is definitely worth the money, if I had known it existed when it came out, I would have paid full price.

I really enjoyed it, I thought the story was excellent.

If you like combat and platforming then it probably would be something that you are interested in. What puzzles there are in the game itself are fairly simple and not too intrusive if you dislike this element of gameplay.:parachute:

Well, that's a stupid question...YES IT IS WORTH IT!!

Even With Origin I think it's a great game! I've really enjoyed it regardless of the fact that it has origin. It even looks good.

I really enjoyed it the first time. I thought that even though it's fairly linear, that the scenery was really fascinating and the perfect level of creepy. However if you're questioning it, maybe wait and see if it's in the Christmas sale. If it's inexpensive now, there's a decent chance it'll be even 50% off of that price.

The only negative is that I personally don't get much replay out of it. I keep trying, but I stop after like half an hour, bc after the first time it's pretty repetitive. That said, I have like 18hrs and that's enough for me to say it warrants a purchase, especially if you have any interest in Wonderland.

And you definitely don't need to have played the first at all. I didn't, bc looking back I hated the prior control style that is greatly improved in Madness Returns.

I found the game to be really, really buggy when I loaded it onto my laptop. Like, none of the movement keys were mapped to anything, which took a while to figure out because it was so out of the ordinary.

it was really laggy as well until/unless I turned off a lot of the video effects (the game happens to be extremely picky about what graphics cards it will run on).

Finally, I also found the colors to be a bit washed out.

The first game was a masterpiece. This one... not so much, at least not so far (though admittedly I haven't logged very much time in it *yet*).

I'm personally a HUGE fan of American McGee's Alice games, EA or not. Love the story, the gameplay, the art... and, in my opinion, playing the first one and knowing the full story (the Case Book insert is available online to read) does enhance the gameplay, and made Madness Returns a more enjoyable experience overall for me.
No Steam achievements is kind of a bummer, because I do enjoy that aspect of other Steam games an awful lot, but I paid $4.99 for Madness Returns during the Halloween sale and it was definitely worth that. I was willing to pay more, but bought it at a good time. So its up to you, if you like the game, the franchise, etc. If not, then it probably won't be worth it to you.

I was thinking about buying this since it's only five bucks, but the lack of achievments made me change my mind. It's like you're missing out on a whole portion of the game that console users get to experience. Maybe I'll check back in a few years and see if they've added some.

And lol at fighting on the internet.
To each his own as they say I guess LOL.
I bought it just to look at the pretty graphics and cuz I know it's a good story
I guess I"m showing my age cuz what does achievments have to do with anything?
There is a ton of the best games ever made that don't know nuthing about chievments either LOL
