Can't activate (Solution)

Things went as follows: when I logged into my Origin account (it says EA account) and tried to activate the key Steam gave me, it showed up a system failure. No key was emailed to me at all. I saw many posts with problems until one comment loomed up with the solution.
Here are the steps I took to solve it:

1. Open Origin.
2. Go to Origin > Add game > Redeem code, and paste the key Steam gave you.
You don't need to download it again, even if I assume you can play it through Origin.
3. Return to Steam.
4. Click the 'Alice: Madness Returns's Play button.
5. Access your Origin account when it asks you to introduce your EA account.
It automatically checks if you have the game on Origin. It should work now and never bother you again.

Or you could already have an EA account, and simply paste the key Steam pops up with into the required box after booting it up via Steam. No Origin required.

My problem was it didn't work neither with Origin or EA. It said there was a system failure

Any issue means you need to temporarily disable your firewall/anti-virus because it's being blocked, that happened to me and I was able to disable them and activate.

I just got it to work as well....6mo after finding this post. But mine works in Steam now, too. I logged into EA. Downloaded Origin, logged into Origin with my EA credentials, using my Code Key copied from Steam - I downloaded Alice: Madness Returns in Origin, made sure it was in my Origin Library, opened Steam, pressed Play and WTF...IT WORKED!!!
I've had this downloaded in Steam for about 2yrs without it working. Works like the rest of the games in Steam....Great Game, so far.

This let's you play the game, but every once in a while, I am still forced to log into my EA/Origin account, in order for the game to start and me to play it.

Which sucks, because I only created this account so that I could play ''Madness returns''.

So, unfortunately, it won't stop bothering you from time to time.

Definitely remember your username and password to your EA/Origin account.

easiest solution is to get a crack, steam won't care and you can skip all that EA account bs, no need to feel bad for removing obscure drm when you bought it legally in the first place
