American McGee's Alice/Alice1 on Steam Deck (super easy)

So we all know that the Steam version of Madness Returns didn't get any of the DLC but the Origin version did, including American McGee's Alice Remastered (the first game). This game isn't supposed to launch outside of Madness Returns. Well, I got it running outside of Madness Returns. Took the Alice1 folder out of my Origin/EA version of the game (get it however you see fit, this is how I sourced the folder) and copied it to the Steam Deck, then added it as a non Steam game. Under launch options in properties I added this command, -RunningFromAlice2. That makes the game launch, but the title screen is way zoomed in and upside down. Fixed that by mapping alt+enter to one of the 4 back buttons (alt as a primary command and enter as a sub command on the same button). Now pressing that button fixes the title screen and the game should work as intended.

question, by what method did you add alice1 to steam, through the add non-steam game prompt or by finding the executable in desktop mode then using the right click menu on an executable...I ask because I'm having some difficulties reproducing that part.

I added the executable as a non steam game in steams menu (in desktop mode on the deck)

what was the name of the executable in it's properties, mine has "/tmp/alice.exe.desktop" as the full path, I think i have the wrong target. Also I placed alice1 exactly where the guides suggested to get it working inside of madness returns, but couldn't get sound to work hence why I'm trying to get it working here as a separate game.

the path for the exe (starting from the Alice1 folder) should be Alice1/bin/alice.exe

I can’t get it to launch even though I own AMR from the Origin platform. Got the file where it needs to be but Steam just doesn’t launch it. Not that it works in either of the two but do you launch the game in desktop mode or on steam’s?

It'll launch directly from the gaming UI for me

Got it to work on my steam deck within madness returns but whenever I quit the game my steam deck will get an infinite loop and doesn’t bring me back to either my library nor madness returns. Anybody experience something similar? Steam +B doesn’t work either. Only via power button I can restart my deck.
