Dodging the colossal ruin's grab attack
Is there any way to avoid the Collosal Ruin when it chases you down to grab you? It moves so fast and is so large I've never been able to evade it.

Believe me, I've tried. Got through the last one by hiding on a ledge - maybe I missed escape points on the previous encounters.

Usually spamming dodge like crazy is enough to outrun it, if not it will buy precious time and it'll stop trying to grab you. I don't remember the layout of every stage where you fight one of those, but if you can find some kind of obstacle like a thick pillar or something, that's its weakness, just put it in between you and it and the grab won't be a problem anymore.
I'm not sure if the bomb is useful against that thing, as a decoy I mean, you could try that too.
Now go and wreck that thing :knife2:

There is a better way: shrink and it won't be able to pick you up. It's a glitch. But it's very useful.

lol, never thought of shrinking. could have used it in chapter 3 with that frog. well, pretty much since you encounter it.
standing on the ledge doesnt really help to shoot these faces on its body. always hate it when it uses its flames. this is clearly a hard guy to kill. but i guess i can expect more of them later on, if not harder enemies in chapter 4 im in now.

Glitch or no, makes sense it'd not be able to pick up something tiny with those clunky creepy hands.

I've always been able to use the dodge. Make sure you dodge off to the sides rather backwards or forwards. Alternatively jump around it/over a pit if there happens to be one nearby.

I'm pretty sure dodging to the side will get you grabbed. You must keep all the distance you can... gotta dodge backwards.

agreed. i never could evade it by just dodging forward or sideways. it always grabbed me and got burned.
