Alice: Madness Returns

DLC and Alice 1 auto-reset?
So I recently got both the DLC and access to American McGee's Alice working just fine. Even got the latter working with VSync, and streamed a bit of it with a friend last week.

Just now, I got a Steam update, and when I opened the game, I can no longer access the DLC in Madness Returns, or Alice 1. The options just disappeared from the main menu.

Is this supposed to happen? Do Steam updates always disable the DLC/Alice 1 toggle off? And if it's not supposed to, how am I to fix it to allow them to become permanent options?

It shouldn't because there hasn't been ANY updates[steamdb.info] since 2022 that removed the EA-related DRM and replaced it with Steam's, and the "Special Edition" (DLCs and Alice 1 in the menu) toggle is in the game's configuration. You should be able to put the toggle for the DLC stuff in the game's configuration files, there are a bunch of guides on how to get those features enabled.

I was able to get all the DLC stuff working prior, as well as Alice 1. (Even altering settings allowing fullscreen on bootup and VSync. Never did the 60FPS stuff, though. I'll have to give that a shot.

Thing is, I went back to the files in the game and the lines I needed to change to enable the content was toggled back to "FALSE", when I originally saved it as "TRUE."
When I went back and toggled it back, Alice 1 worked again, even keeping my fullscreen/VSync settings and save data.

I'm just confused why the settings for unlocking said content would automatically reset. Either there's somewhere I messed up when it comes to saving the files, or the general Steam update just somehow screwed me over for some reason.
