if i play american mcgees alice do i lose my normal game? or can i play both games

You can play both.

They both have separate saves.

When playing American McGee Alice there are no check points and if you die you will have to play the entire section again.
However you can manually save, and I recommend you save about every 5-10min as some of the platforming and cheap enemy encounters will make you not want to repeat 30min of game.

You first need to go to the Special Edition of this guide. Its just change one line from FALSE, to TRUE and save.

That should unlock the dlc skins, and the option for the first game will show up, but will crash since its empty.

You then go to the section of the guide that gives you the first game and place it in correctly.
