Imagine being the creator of a series just to have a potential passion project declined by an algorithm that didn't deem it particularly marketable.
EA is complete and utter corporate scum, and why anyone would purchase any of their newer games is beyond me. "It's not lootboxes, they're fun surprise mechanics. Children love surprises".
Our Wonderland, though damaged, remains safe in memory, for now....'
Due to the unfettered greed of EA, it will now remain safe in our memories forever.
Goodnight Alice. May you linger long in the golden gleam, and EA monsters no longer haunt your dreams.
I followed this possible sequel from the beginning, and the truth is, this has hurt a lot. Everything that was shown in the design guide that they published (Script, mechanics, art, etc.) looked very good and it seemed that this was the best work of American McGee and the one to which he had put the most personal effort.
And yes, I can understand why the Alice franchise wasn't a blockbuster, and let's face it, they were noteworthy games but they weren't great games. But heck, give it a modest budget and voila, you don't need to give it the budget of a Star Wars game.
And I also don't understand why they don't sell the license to return it to the creator. That is to say, it is obvious that EA is never going to make a new Alice game or anything with the IP, so at least being able to have a final shot of income with that brand with the sale would be logical. It really annoys me that they tell the creator that Alice's IP is a very important one for them, but we all know that EA doesn´t give a damn about the IP.
I imagine that they will want to go easy and in the future make the brand profitable with a shabby remaster and little else. How disgusting they are, seriously.
And well, also sad that this has been such a big dissapointment for its creator that in the Patreon post he has said that he is retiring from video game development and that, if in the future someone convinces EA to make Alice : Asylum project a reality ,basically comments that they don't count on him.
It also seems strange to me that seeing EA's change with respect to giving an opportunity to linear games such as It Takes Two, Respawn's Star Wars Jedi, Lost in Random, Dead Space Remake, etc., they do not give this a chance.
RIP Alice.
Go comment on EA posts everywhere. I hope they change their minds
I'm pretty sure that it was going to be a masterpiece...
funni, did laugh
