Better just get a Complete Collection key for $30 and activate it on Origin, you get both games instead of just one.

The original EA-Account system the game used no longer exists.
As you say, yes the game uses the old EA account system, and if you try to use it will fail.
But the solution for that is simply to activate the CD key into Origin, or even on the EA website. After that the old EA account system will recognize the product is registered and proceed as normal. So there's a solution, you CAN play it on Steam.
Just tried it and it works! I never knew, thanks!

means THIS user just offered me Clive Barker's Jericho for 20 €. Was sus as crazy.
User deleted many posts, but thank for you clearly stating, that this game had no retail key.
Bet he is still subscribed.
