Help with Glitch in Queensland?

I'm pretty sure this is a glitch. In this video, at 10:25, after being chased by the Executioner, Alice comes to the part where she is supposed to pull the chain and lower those air vents so that she can go up to the top. However, in my game, whenever I pull the chain, the air vents don't appear within reach. I am also not given the option of talking to the cat.

Can someone please help me?

EDIT: Another thing that might be note worthy is the fact that when I fall off in that area, I don't just die. I fall a long way and then all my health is drained and I die as if I have been killed by an enemy.

Did you mess around with the config files?
The only thing I can think of for now is restarting the chapter from the chapters menu, and hope it doesn't happen again...

The only thing I did do was try to get it into windowed mode, but either it didn't work or I didn't like it like that, so now I play in full screen.

Can you think of any way to move on without the air vents?

I don't think there's any way up without those things... where exactly are they? Can you post a screenshot?

I tried your idea last night, and it worked! Thank you so much, I was so relieved to get past that level!
