Sun, fire crystals

I don’t really understand the output when fighting monsters and how you can get certain materials reliably. If anyone has a comprehensive list I’ll take it.
If not I’ll settle on knowing how to get these two.

you can get sun & fire crystal from 8 small monster cores and 1 medium monster core if you turn it in to the adventurer girl to the left in the first town.

I also happened to have a couple of fire crystals drop from the bats.
