Active Gathering System Instead of Passive?
Is there any chance the devs might switch to an active gathering system in the future? It really breaks immersion, having to hit a button to interact with something, go into an in-game menu, then wait for the game to gather it FOR you, whilst simultaneously time throttling you for no reason. Don't get me wrong, I've only been playing for 30 minutes, but the system just doesn't seem like a fun one, and I suspect it'll get old very quickly.

Props to them for trying something different in a survival game, but it almost feels like either a cop-out to avoid making real animations and an actual gathering/respawn system, or them attempting to reinvent the wheel when it never needed to be. It also feels like the game is actively trying to punish you for doing the activities that are literally the core gameplay: crafting, gathering, for survival. Why are you eating away my enitre day just because I want to play the game as intended? I get some might call it 'realistic,' but it just feels like a time wasting mechanic that makes me unable to make the most out of my day because I've spent in game hours gathering vines from a single tree.

I wish the system was more active than it was passive. It feels like the game just wants to throttle my every move by doing things off screen, erasing part of what's enjoyable about survival games to begin with; you, the player, doing things to help you survive. Not an in game menu making you wait for a progress bar to fill and calling it good. It really sucks they have this system, because the game otherwise seems so interesting and vast, I'd hate for it to make me put the game down completely because it just plays itself for me.

It's the same system used in one of the most successful survival games of all time called The Long Dark (released in 2017).

I just found that out the hard way. Looks like I'll have to refund that recommendation by a friend, too. 😭☠️ I already refunded this game. Do you know if there are any other games, off the top of your head, that use this system? So I can avoid buying them in he future and wasting Steam's time by needing them refunded?

The active gathering system, you request, would let you use the axe for a whole real-life hour to cut down a single tree. That would be true immersion. Would you like that more?
