Moving logs to ark ship?
I just got the new ark ship and was wondering how is everyone moving their logs to the ship? I cant get the log cart onto the ship unless its at a dock and i really dont want to build a dock everytime i want to get logs from a new location. Any advice?

Never bring the cart onto the ship can cause all kinds of problems. leave it on the dock and move the logs from there. It's a big ship you're almost always going to need a dock. Otherwise use the Schooner which is much more cooperative for carrying logs from the shore to the deck without a dock. I carry a small number of builders kits and small stones and a hammer (among many other things) in the ship storage at all times in the event I need to set up a dock somewhere. Even if it's only temporary. But usually because I often need a fast travel point to get back to a location later such as blue choral and seaweed locations or even just a small island with palm trees I want to come back and harvest later. Nothing wrong with having a few docks around. If you want a good place to farm logs I suggest Windy Island. There is no reason to use it for anything after you have met the quest objective there and it is filled with palm trees. Set up a dock on the north end (near the fishing spot). It's going to be a little tricky getting a dock in there but I managed to do it. I cut down all the palm trees and leave them in a big pile just inland over the hill. I also left a 9 log cart there on the shore near the dock. Whenever I need logs I come back and take them from the pile haul them back to the ship. I have 7 log storage on the Ark, two on deck and 5 more placed below deck on the ends.

If the w3ater is deep enough, (the Ark will be low enough in the water), you can lower the ramp and just walk your cart onto the ship.
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CART ON THE SHIP.
You will loose it when you leave and find it back at the sea floor.

Just to add you CAN take the cart below deck if you want to keep log storage down there. That is what I do. But yes never set a cart on the deck. Not only can you lose it but you can get stuck badly too I've had that happen. Had to fast travel and come back cart in the water.

But you can with every other ship. Just do your log collecting with the catamaran, schooner or stormbreaker, and transfer them using the log cart.

Considering how versatile the ark is in general it's a relatively small inconvenience IMHO.

Ok so I just tested this out. You can carry logs onto the Ark without a dock. Use the rope ladders. There is one on the right side and two on the stern by the winch (go up on the inside of either one). You can walk right up them with your logs.

Just build a dock. They are entirely trivial. You can drop them any old place. If you thought that somewhere was a good place to harvest wood once then just leave the dock there because it's going to respawn and be a good place to harvest timber again later on. It's a fast travel point and a way to get your cart onboard. If you don't want to revisit then you can just pull it apart again. No worries.
It's fair to say it would be nice if there was an easier way and I don't actually like any of the rope ladders it has now but I still don't see dropping a dock as that much of a chore. Drop the parts for it in your deck chest between uses. Too easy.

Carry them? Litterly picks up log... walks to the back of ship, up janky ladder thing... Stores them.

What did you think u can't swim with log in arm?
Or did you just not try?

Are you telling me everyone on here built docks, just because they didn't experiment with swimming with things?

I mean yes u can use a cart and drive it onto a boat, and dump the logs.
Or be smart, find the skill book and hold 3 of them and carry them onto the ship.
