Players asked for something pointless so the devs gave them something pointless - can't fault the devs.
Want them neatly stacked? Drop them on the ground.

It's the best possible solution for now. Certain technical difficulties are preventing us from doing it some other way.
Yeah, I found the storage quite pointless, it's hard to grab the stuff inside. I don't know why people are asking for that kind of storage, when a foundation with half walls, or even some rocks, is good enough if you don't want to make boxes.
Eh, more options are good. Players will have more choices on how to handle their items. I can see using the twig storage box for some items, like tossing all the spoiled food into, etc.
I remember - when I first bought the game - being impressed by how nicely the devs did the "stuff piles itself neatly when dropped" mechanic.
I wold rather the boxes stacked at least 1 high
