Grind level is far beyond sanity :S
IMHO it's the most grindy survival game of all I've ever played. And I played them all. Except Valheim where I cannot move ore through portals and must sail few hours back to main base, lol.
So what do we have in Fountain:
- wolves/coyotes/leopards give you no skin for armor. Only boars and bulls. Bulls have no bones and less tendons than boar and coyote. WTH?!
- type 1 tree gives you short sticks ONLY, type 2 long sticks, type 3 big branch, type 4 strong branch, type 5 flexible branch. Jesus Christ!!! And all there trees are scattered around islands and you must grind them all non-stop. It took me half day to build second tiny base with workshops on second island!
- leather piece is made from...whole dried leather. Really? Leather strap is same size as huge piece of leather from bull?
- where is gardening?! I'm sick and tired running around island for hours gathering little here and little bit there on another side of island then waiting for 2 weeks for resources respawn. Even ancient Lost Ark have gardening :D
- mining, smelting and blacksmithing are just another top level of sadism and masochism. First you must build the best wheelcart you can. Then you must travel to the deepest ass of the island to find and mine some ore (13 pieces to be exact you can put inside your cart and some inside yourself :D), then you must grind tons of short sticks to make tons of coal in kiln as fuel for smelter and smithy, then you must smelt 2 ore to 1 ingot ONE BY ONE patiently waiting for each piece, then you can start crafting some metal tools/weapons.
- one-two pieces of clay from huge termite pile is just ridiculous.
- 13-15 stones/ores from huge deposit is ridiculous also.
- to build basic tiny wooden house you must grind trees and stones for half a day as well

1) You can get hides from all of those.
2) Why would a single tree give you all those types of resources. Different trees are better for different resources, just like in real life.
3) You could make a leather jacket without drying it but... it would go rancid.
4) Coming out in 4th update.
5) Interestingly in real life creating metal items take many steps. That is why they gave those steps unique terms like mining, smelting, and blacksmithing.
6) Number of resources per node are best on difficulty level.
7) See 6.
8) See 6 again.

1) no. Coyote and cougar doesn't have craftable leather. Don't lie. No genius reply about boneless bulls? Not surprised, Mr. Dummy.
2) because size and flexibility of branches depends on tree and branch age /facepalm
3) one leather piece made from one huge dried leather makes no sense in my world of logic and common sense
4) I hope so
5) it's a game for relaxing and enjoying, no sadistic real life simulator
6) no, it's random. One copper vein has 15 ore, another in few meters away 22
7) no
8) no
I like tthe GRIND :steamsalty::2016watermelon:

There are hundreds of games for relaxing and enjoying, but only a couple of hard-core survival simulators (both of which have sold more than 5 million copies).

If this type of "grind" isn't for you (do you think surviving on a desert island is all fun and games? You have to work at surviving every single day), please play any of the other survival-lite games on the market.

Please don't ask these developers to dumb down the survival aspects for casual players.

this guy wants to get a fully functional base within the first 2 hours, and get every single item crafted in that space of time also. lol

I am a little confused...
OP complains about a lot of things that he is tired of when playing the game, but he doesn't own the game?
Well at least not a legit copy it seems! ;)

Everything about this game is designed to push you to explore away from the safety of your base. The small number of resources at each node and the long respawn rates are proof of this.

If you could just grow everything up at your base for easy access, it would remove much of the gameplay loop (explore/collect) and things would get boring.

WROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG!
On Copper Island I've built a base with all top tier workshops and 12x12 house less than in 1.5 hour. Everything I needed is right there - 3 copper nodes, all kind of branches, bamboo, bulls for skin and tendons, fish for needles, clay deposit, fruits, mushrooms, stone nodes etc. Few T2 wheel-carts is a key.

"Oh, look mom!!! He didn't buy this game! He don't have any rights to talk and share his opinion here, right mom?!"
Maybe because I'm posting comments from my office and playing game after work using my son's Steam account, Mr. Sherlock Holmes?

On Copper Island

Nothing you've said negates what I've said. Read it again. Also you conveniently left out your time on Hope Island and the need to explore from there. Find lots of copper on Hope? Find iron ore at your Copper Island base?

Yeah... Sorry, but life is too short to deal with trolls that can only debate using insults.
You may or may not have a son who owns the game, most people in such situations would use the Steam family sharing option, but discussing with people that claim things like the below, which every player that has just a little bit of experience knows simply isn't true... At least not without some sort of cheat engine... Just isn't worth it.
I'm out!

One last thing before I leave this thread...
Your original post is about how insane the level of grind is in this game, and yet you claim to have built a pretty huge house containing all top tier crafting stations in 1.5 hours??

PS. Just for your information, feline animals in real life usually have fur, not leather ;)

PPS. and yes I made a quick search through your steam post history which clearly shows that you are constantly looking for fights using insults towards devs and players that do not agree with you, that is why I called you a troll.

These days, I believe I would sacrifice a limb if everyone everywhere were willing to adopt a polite social etiquette. I remember when good manners were the norm. Today, it is the exception. It's all so tiresome.
