A couple of moves that helped me to push through are dash attacks (low damage but a guarantee knockdown, even on bosses), descending jump kick (=double jump then attack), which can also directly counterattack from a jump recovery (=hit the jump button when an enemy knocks you down) and of course Billy's tornado kick special, which can be used as a follow-up to a direct knockdown for max damage.
Another essential skill to master is vertical dodge. When you jump, you can push up or down to move your character in that direction, what allows to dodge attacks on the horizontal plane (basically all attacks from the bosses).
Always stay mobile, don't get cornered and use your moves to evade tricky situations. It is definitely feasible.
Or you have Marian and fire the busted RPG a lot.
But either way the final stage is demanding like a roguelite typically is rather than an arcade beat em up. Hell, I often take the 10k on my runs especially if I have died earlier in my runs. You can get better at it, but it is very much a Ninja Gaiden style HAHA GOOD LUCK challenge more than a DMC style Marquis of Queensbury rules fight
Thank you for the suggestions.
Kind Regards
Jimmy has a pretty bad moveset but he does have one or two useful things.
You need to upgrade to better characters if you expect to breeze through the game on subsequent playthroughs.
If you prefer speed, Linda's the best character in that category. She's legit broken with the range / utility on her specials and she can recover from mistakes really fast, after you give her a speed boost she's the fastest character in the game. I would say unlock her first.
Chin is probably second best for speed, his range isn't great but he has better specials for AOE / combo potential than Duke does.
If you prefer power, strategy and using crazy AOE / ranged attacks at a sacrifice for speed then The Mysterious Warrior is your bread and butter. He can just decimate the entire game if you're careful enough with your attacks. His speed sucks ass and you'll need that blue lightning bolt if you want to stand a chance against him in the City Hall level. He's insane with SP recovery boons as well, like the 50% reduction and 100% recovery with a crowd control attack.
Okada is great if you just want to spam sword slashes, so long as you have energy recovery boons. You'll need the 50% reduction and the ability that gives you a full SP bar with a crowd control attack, she's pretty insane at range.
Anyway, those would be my go to's... Unlock Linda first then The Mysterious Warrior and just use them to beat the game, it'll be so much easier.
However Marian is by far the easiest to beat the game with. I wouldn't be able to beat the game on max difficulty settings without her if going for Ending A at my current skill level anyway. I still may never be able to after I get better without some luck!
I beat it with over $30k in cash left and barely died at all.
