Invisible player bug?

So last night when I was playing with my friends, I encountered a bug where one of the others that joined the game were completely invisible for me, and their voice was just a disembodied voice outside of the ship, I assume probably some default point for the game.
Even stranger, sometimes when I would go up to doors that cause an area switch, a player with the name "Player #" appeared, which I assume was my invisible friend, just not properly positioned for my client, as they would still show running animations or what they were carrying and such. Also, whenever my friend would type in chat, their name appeared as "Player #1". And when we advanced to the next day, I was able to actually see their position again, though their name was still "Player #" and their voice was still disembodied.
And the strangest thing of all, when they died, I could still hear their voice outside the ship.

We were able to fix this by just restarting the lobby and joining again, but this was still weird and I thought it should be reported

We're having the same issue. Do you have the larger lobbies mod installed?

I didn't have any mods installed. I didn't even know mods were a thing for this game when this happened

same here anyone know how to solve?

Verify integrity of game files. My friend had that issue, and it was always me that turned invisible. After he did that things went back to normal.
