LOOT/ITEMS DISAPPEARING WHEN QUITTING AND RE-JOINING A SAVE?

just got to 4k quota and had 1k scrap saved up with 30+ flashlights walkies Etc. this is now the 3rd-4th time that i have re loaded a save and i am missing 75% of my items/loot? now im not sure i will make it to 5k quota. spent all day on this save just to potentially loose it all to a de-spawn issue?

The game will only save(when you quit the game) up to 45 items on the ship, any extra just gets despawned.
There's a mod that sets the max item count to 999 so just use that, or don't keep 30+ flashlights and walkies because that's kind of dumb.

Why is there a limit on the ship item carry capacity in the first place and why isnt it mentioned beforehand?
I wonder since this game is about pushing quota forwards and You can't do so at 3k+ (modless) if the items keep on despawning after each lobby reset (which has to happen a LOT to continue the save files progression), where the despawn does take a lot of the fun out of the game because You gotta experience it to understand it and usually You can only experience it above 1k quota which does take hours that end up being good for nothing because of such small ship item carry capacity
For example a thing that happened to me recently and set in stone the fate of my first 3k+ quota run. During the selling day after 3 days of taking loot onto the ship from titan to meet the quota my teammates connection died which resulted in the lobby shutting down which meant that all of the effort that got us to 3k went down the drain in an instant.
Once You start the lobby and got 3 days to gather as much as You can. You pretty much CAN'T leave untill selling otherwise You're doomed to lose most of the loot You've gathered due to the limit.
Personally i think that the max item count should be 999 or atleast 250 in the base game instead of 45 for the fact that the progression becomes impossible later on and playing a cycle of 130 to 2k quota becomes dull after a while since thats all You can do with the limited items
I love this game yet i wish that with time things will be sorted out to enhance players experience

If I had to wager a guess the item cap is so that people don't just restart the server when they wipe without consequence on higher quotas.
