Rework Kidnapper Fox ASAP PLS
Please rework the kidnapper fox. Either make him let go of you at certain points, or make the pull less strong. I was playing this game with my friends, we all died to a fox right outside of our ship (weeds spawned under the sides of the ship) and we all agreed to quit the game. Sadly, I don't think my friends will be playing this game after that.

For those of you trying to remove the fox, I have found a way to do it. The "NoFox" mod by rogan on Thunderstore seems to be throwing errors at the moment, so here is a very convoluted method, but it's worth it!

LethalQuantities How To:
  1. Install "LethalQuantities"
  2. Start the game, and START A RUN. As in start in the ship, and then quit.
  3. Config files should be generated from LethalQuantities
  4. Use the Web UI they have on their thunderstore page, you can find the "Presets.json" file in
    %appdata%/Thunderstore Mod Manager/DataFolder/LethalCompany/profiles/<Your mod profile name>/BepInEx/config/LethalQuantities/Advanced
  5. Click on "Global" in the left side of the Web UI
  6. Check outside enemies and daytime enemies, in the dropdown click Kidnapper Fox, then click the + to the left of the dropdown box.
  7. Set the spawn rate to 0.
  8. Save from the Web UI and replace the file
  9. Launch the game and you will finally never see this piece of ♥♥♥♥ again!

You can configure Lethal Level Loader with "Bush wolf" values too. It may inadvertently be restricting fox spawn rates as I've played quite a few times without even seeing vein shrouds.

If not there's also:
https://thunderstore.io/c/lethal-company/p/Zehs/KidnapperFoxSettings/

I've been using this mod to make kidnapper foxes much less of a problem: Making them 3 hit kills, making it so you don't drop your items, ect.

Do you think Kidnapper Fox spawning right here is fair?
GaskinZ Jul 15, 2024 @ 9:08am
The kidnapper fox unfortunately has lore attached to it showing it regularly hides in ships so it can invade other moons. The only real defense is to get and keep a shovel as early as possible on the ship and the facility. Of course, that is a defense, as inconvienant as it is.

Now, I've not encountered the fox that often so can someone explain to me,

Only one fox can appear each day is what I was told was the rule.

Does that mean only one fox can be spawned in at a time, or if you kill the fox does that mean it won't appear again that day? If the later, the best change may be to force the fox to spawn in early so it can be killed swiftly. You could send one person out for fox hunt duty each day and eliminate the threat.

Who cares, you can always just change the lore

I can't. Neither can you. And the only person who can change it has no incentive to change it.
That's an aspect of the game now, just as solidified as brakens and coil-heads. Argue against it all you want, won't change it. You can only change aspects of the entity now, not it's core components.

Do we just let Zeekers do everything he wants now? Are we not allowed to complain? Its core components are garbage, that's why you constantly see people complaining about the fox. Just because it's already added doesn't mean the core components will never be changed, especially with how they are right now.

Yes, this isn't a democracy. I'm not telling you that you can't complain, I'm telling you it won't do any good to try and re-write the game how you want it by complaining about it.

Any suggestion or complaint you have should be modeled around changing components, not established lore.

Who said so? Since when are you limited in that regard?

I mean did you expect documentation? You're welcome to pitch whatever you want, I'm just telling you that you're much more likely to move the screw if you use a properly adjusted tool.

It's a fundamentally flawed entity, now matter how many components of it we change, it's always going to remain an entity that camps you near the ship without leaving, requiring constant attention. I have no idea why Zeekers went ahead with the release of the update without addresing the major concerns of players but I hope it's not because he decided everything's fine and as it should be.

It is not a flawed entity. And that's the key issue I want to convey here.

I for one dislike its terminal behavior, but it's an obstacle. Its meant to change and challenge your behavior. And if you stick to your shovel, you can kill that fox easy.

It's flawed in the sense that it's just not fun to play against. There's some entities that I dislike for their persistensy, like the Dogs, but at least they walk around and allow for counterplays that don't require you to waste all your time on them (and they also spawn later in the day).
