Giants seeing you across the map makes complete sense considering how tall they are and the size of their eyes. They can see over most hills and a very far distance clearly.
Generally you drop your stuff and outrun the Giant, or just hide behind a tree or light pole.
It might also help to add better cover such as thicker trees on March/Vow, or more boulders to Offense, despite the low Giant spawn rate there. It is currently rather difficult to break line of sight with a Giant, so adding even just a few more obstacles feels fair to the player and the enemy.
As for camping, I think they just need a tweak to their pathing and AI behavior. It makes more sense to hinder their ability to camp than to add a feature to counter camping. I don't feel like v47 helped much in that regard, as Giants still tend to hang around the ship in my experience.
Interesting take, though - I like the picture of Giants using pseudo-Nutcracker AI
maybe giving it a sight nerf from like 70-50 on snowy planets or foggy weather, and 40 if both conditions apply. standing still making them blind has the problem of it not being an opposite reaction to any other outdoor entities, masked excluded but at that point, just run.
march/vow doesnt need a change tbh plenty of trees, maybe less vow fire-exit camping, cus they glaze that lowered spot way too much with 0 cover.
Alike the bracken and head nibbler, singleplayer could do with a change in behaviour, as you have 0 teamates to bait it with, no way to keep it stunned and titan being the most viable solo moon.
Giants are just... annoying and a pain. Inconsistent behaviour and the effect they put on your screen is just... too much. There is already so much screen effects and stuff going on with base-game, if you add such screen stuff on top of it, its just... too much.
This game is supposed to be hard. I don't struggle with Giants. They are quite easy to avoid. I think the reasoning for this post being made is that the OP doesn't know how to avoid them, or is clearly walking around in big open areas and claims they are "too powerful".
People say stuff is broken or too hard in games all the time. Then when you actually watch what most people are doing, they generally are just running as fast as possible out in the open without even trying to hide or drop their stuff.
A lot of the games I have played in recently, people have had absolutely no idea how to play. Then later when they respawned they said something along the lines of "that's completely unfair", or "Giants are broken, you can't avoid them".
Giants are fine the way they are. Very easily avoidable to be honest.
I agree on the notion that foggy weather or Dine/Rend should impact their vision to a degree (mayhaps reduce the camping a bit more too, its definitely still there), but they're pretty fine otherwise. They are by design enemies that become dangerous when you're spotted, which should be the case. There's enough counterplay for that stage nowadays too.
(this is more of a reply to the rest of the comment chain rather than OP, as the idea can be pretty fun)
Although It would be nice if they didn't devour the players loot along with them.
