Am I hallucinating or is this real??? (masks ghosts)

So, i was playing online with random folk. We were on a moon that was flooded and I stayed in the ship while the others went to get metal. After a while I noticed a mask and tried to hide. It looked at me while I pleaded for my life and it shook its head, like it was listening. It then grabbed me but dissapeared mid-animation. A couple seconds later another one appeared with similair behaviour. A player came back while one was in the ship and I (at first jokingly) said to watch out for the masks, but they said there wasnt anything. The masks kept appearing and dissapearing while my friend just did their job, while I, now terrified, had to deal with the masks (drowned myself to escape). Even another player who was dead said they saw nothing and thought I was schizaphrenic, which I definitely arent. Had a similair thing where I could hear a player but they were invisible to me and my game while not to the others. Am I the only one who had this happen or is my game haunted???
