"Has the dev abandoned the game?"
I remember this being a hot topic back in the day. This was foreshadowed and I am not surprised with the slow and inconsistent updates. He has already begun working another game.

I dislike statements such as "he is a one guy team" & "it's only been insert amount of weeks/months!" Yeah, one guy sitting on millions & in the beginning the dev, Zeekers stated that he wanted regular updates every 2 weeks or so. Then he changed to "bigger updates" which roughly meant 2-3 months. Last REAL update was on the 17, August, 2024

It's been over 5 months, reaching 6.

Yeah, I am sure we will get another update sometime but I and just like many others dislike the absence of transparency and communication throughout the games development. Talking about transparency I am aware Zeekers stated in a discord post that he is taking a break from the development of the game due to "burnout" and is working on that said other game "Welcome To The Dark Place" that was over 5 months ago so it lines up perfectly there's been little to no updates.

But I can't get behind the fact that this guy doesn't understand management and utility in practice. What better way to manage burnout than to, NOT work on another project because I doubt that would help and worsen or stagnate burnout. What better way to manage burnout than to simply - Take a break. Then with those millions of dollars you would be sitting on, offset some of the development and work-load to someone or a team with your approval.

Keep in mind I am now psychoanalysing so it might not be true but Zeekers seems like the sort of person to go full days and nights developing a game, and good for him for being passionate but that's the reason for his burnout. mismanagement of his health, schedule and his resources at his disposal.

Well damn, I'm sure he loves being called a manipulative furry who ran off with the bajillions of sales of a 10$ game every two weeks you people don't get updates. Maybe if people stopped being such entitled brats, he'd actually make announcements about when game updates may drop.

Maybe find something else in your life to derive joy from so you're not desperate for an update to a horror game? Maybe don't attempt to "psychoanalyze" anyone you can't even observe either, particularly if you're just going to ignore the massive issue of how building a dev team is actually quite an effort as well. Just a thought.
dont need a 3rd post of the exact same topic

No, I checked his Patreon (free tier) where he mostly updates in detail about what he's doing. Right now Zeekerss is trying to find a good ending for Lethal Company but can't decide which path to take. Here's what he said

For Lethal Company, I still have not been able to think of a proper ending, and my desire to create an ending is becoming desperate. I will soon reach an impasse. I've brought this up to friends and family, and no one has been able to give me a light bulb. There are many possible endings that seem obvious and may have fun gameplay, but they don't make sense or they aren't the story I want to tell. Then there are directions to take the story that are very compelling, but they are incomplete and ultimately lead back to the same place. I feel like I've created a paradoxical problem for myself to solve, and I'm digging my heels in until I do the impossible.

Thanks for this. It's disappointing that he's already thinking of ending the games development after his break.

No problem, and yea it sucks but its better than abandoning LC in my opinion. If there's nothing new to add that would make a massive difference, just end it and dont be like that weirdo YandereDev that said "I want my game to be like an amusement park"

People should let him create the ending he wants.

He should take his time. That is a tough decision to make.

Yep and let me be honest. I can understand why some people are not happy with Zeekerss.
For one, that early access note that hasn't been updated and like I stated in a previous discussion, its been there and I've recently found out its been there b4 the game was released. The second is Zeekerss probably overhyped his vision to the point where he had to acknowledge he was being naive but being naive might have led to people having high expectations. Lesson learned from both sides

Here's the quote where he acknowledges he was being naive, you can find it in the Version 50 update note

writing an ending for the game and adding content is two seperate things. even after adding a ending he will still continue to work on it (i presume anyways)

its more he wants to have a complete lore for the game and isn't happy with the current loophole and lack of real explanation with the company etc

makes sense he didn't really update it especially when he contradicts the 6th months expectancy with later statements (even just right after)

as for over-hyping his vision i cant really say anything as i saw it more through tid bits of gameplay and the praise of what other people gave it, so just by the gameplay and price i knew it wasn't going that big of a game with a repetitive gameplay loop that works and ended up having a bit more than expected

so maybe there's something iv missed but i judged it more from what i saw of the game over what people had said and was satisfied for what i paid for and calling the dev greedy for taking a brake and their time is not only a low blow but unreasonable too

and not yet have i seen a genuine argument until you had brought up false expectations from early access and while not backed up yet him over-hyping his vision

unlike everything else iv seen so far this is the first genuine post surrounding the subject and is actually worth debating over

Just a thought.

There was an announcement not too long ago about him taking break. Not an unreasonable thing especially with how many updates have rolled out since launch.
