Is there a road map for development or is this a perma-"early access" title?
Would like to see more varied maps and new maps altogether.
I've been playing modded for a long time and after a good break i decided to come back on it and play vanilla, and playing pubs, except the very weird people or error of connecting to a game, im still having lots of fun, for whatever reason i wasn't getting lootbug infestation and meteor warning with mods, and i got my 2 first meteor warning and lootbug infestation recently, which where super fun too,
Sure, there is lots of things Zeeker could do, and even i wish for, i would love to have the fox back, we didn't even have enough time to really get used to him before he was gone, i would love to have more lobby search settings, like non modded or modded as a choice and such, but for 10$, i got around 130-150 hours of fun, and with it i got even more, and im playing more vanilla again, so it's honestly a very good price to hours played, some 60$ game don't even that much replay value.
I do understand other people complaint, but im really happy with what i spent my money on, compare to some other game where i thought where fun but after 20 hours at best i stop playing
dont think theres a roadmap and probably not perma early access, i can imagine that its mainly early access because hes not happy with the current state of things, interiors are still buggy (things generating in walls etc) theres not enough interiors (which he also wants it to be unique going by mineshafts addition at least) and still wants to add more enemies you have to play around
but at the same time hes just also burnout as comming up with this stuff and incorperating it into the games theme balance and is also fun to deal with is a lot of work
i can imagine its early access for quite some time tho and its mainly labled that because its still a buggy mess of a game
its a unique gimmic based party game that can also be taken seriously to a degree as no permanent upgrades are given and everything you an get have draw backs allowing the game to be fun and engaging
so even right now its worth that $10 price tag and while repetitive thats what keeps it fun, is this some game that you will eventually hit burnout with sure but its that game you can pick up when nothing better to do and enjoy as it aims to be,
its a game i can always see me coming back to with the bois or some new friends, or maybe even just join pubs and chat to people or listen to music while playing
need more notes and story as there is one, also need to have moons you've unlocked show up on the moon list
But it's pretty clear he wants to move on to something else, so this game is as good as dead.
No new content, no replayablity, no future.
See there's no incentive for Zeekers to make further updates to the game. It's a 10$ game which has given most of us dozens of hours of enjoyment that no one is going to end up buying twice for themselves. Some of the more entitled users might claim the game is an unfinished broken mess, however I'm willing to bet the vast majority of those users have never even heard of itch.io and instead are used to being spoon fed bi-weekly updates from games like fortnite and cod. The point here being they have no concept of what a skeleton-frame game is, nor the benefits/challenges that get associated with that kind of game blowing up in popularity.
Looking back to a few months ago when Zeekers dropped the maneater update, it's easy to see why we haven't seen any other update sense then. One of the most begged for additions to the game was a new interior layout, then when you got it, most of the entitled children on this forum decided to instead shift their focus to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about lobby matchmaking.
I'm going to be direct here: If you are using the public matchmaking system built into the game, you are a moron. This is not a AAA game. It's open to the public with almost no security. It's not just likely you'll find a million modded lobbies, but you also run the risk of malicious connections. If it can happen via Black Ops 3's connections, it can happen through lethal companies as well. You can scream and cry at Zeekers for not making the game more secure, but it's not a simple flip of the switch. It's a complete rework of how the game works from the ground up. That's why desync is such an issue with entities and mechanics from other players. It'd be more likely for zeekers to release "Lethal Company Remastered" than it would be to see the game's lobby security improved.
And really that's kinda the meat and potatoes here.
The game is unstable because it wasn't built with the success it would later have in mind. It was built to be a 10$ indie game maybe a few dozen thousand would play over a year. There really is no escaping that, it can't be patched out, it can't be upgraded, it has to be completely rebuilt from the ground up.
People who are upset with the game LOVE to quote some blog post Zeekers posted months ago about stepping away from lethal company, and quite frankly that's his best move. He's run this game's well dry (or at least already consumed 75% of the profit), he can't branch out onto consoles because the game isn't built for it. The love this game has gotten from the modding community has produced so many mods for the game they practically override the game itself at this point. And and the ultimate driving force: The unreasonable amount of hate Zeekers has accumulated from forums like this.
He stands to gain nothing by continuing to update this game as his main focus.
Moving forward he can work on new titles, or maybe, he can also put together a team of people to create "Lethal Company 2".
That would be the ultimate play at this time. It'd be built with more stability in mind, it'd create more revenue again, it could branch out onto consoles, it could take inspiration from some of the most loved mods like Skinwalkers and General Improvements, it could even be built by a team rather than just Zeekers.
