Easter eggs don't explode

Today I found something interesting, I found an easter egg and for no reason I decided to blow myself up and started throwing it under myself and I did it over 100 times (about 130) and it didn't explode but when I threw it as far as I could then it exploded instantly. Did i miss an update that changed easter eggs or how is that possible? Is there a minimum distance an easter egg has to fly to explode?
