Hotkeys, please!

I'd love to switch between items faster with hotkeys: 1, 2, 3, 4 or however you want to do 'em.

+1 Scroll Wheel item swapping is the most ass thing about the game for me rn.

100% it needs the ability to use the number keys to switch items, like every other game out there.

The only downside is you lose the dance and point if it becomes number keys, but I would love hotkeys

Actually you don't. With the mod the keybinds for emotes are f1 and f2. If they would add item hotkeys into the game the same thing would happen (or even better, an action wheel)

not to mention that you're stuck with inverted scroll, so even if you liked scrolling through items like in minecraft its still inconvenient. (this is genuinely my only criticism of the game please dont clown me)

the scroll wheel is a bit sucky but if you have the time to use number hotkeys, it is a bit easier

My scroll wheel is kinda busted, so I've mapped the item switching to the backwards/forwards keys on the side of my mouse. That's worked quite well for me so far.

HotbarPlus by FlipMods if you want an alternative option to the one that fellow linked.
(It has additional opt-in functionality via its config file but at its core it gives you the inventory hotkeys)

Also you can directly rebind the vanilla point and dance emotes to whatever keys you want if you still want to retain them.

I have an AutoHotKey script specifically for this. When I was a kid, I'd rather reach my hand over to the 9 key rather than press 1 and tick my mousewheel over because I'd frequently overdo it.
