Where do I pickup orders from the terminal?

I’m new so does it spawn in the ship or in front of it

You can't miss it, I promise you. Just play it by ear. Try not to get stuck on the little details, this game requires you to improvise.

One thing to note: Do not make several orders too quickly. Do not make orders from orbit. In both cases, your order can be overwritten by another order, or just not be delivered at all.

Making multiple orders combines it all into the same pod, even if made from orbit but i can imagine it can bug out.

Once you order items it takes roughly one planetary hour for the drop pod to land

So if you buy something while in orbit and then land , the game will start you at 8am, and around 9am a pod will come

The location the pod with your items drops is always within hearing distance of your ship

I've had it not deliver things that we've ordered because someone put too many orders in all at once. I've also seen it not deliver things that you've ordered in orbit if you don't land quickly enough. Most likely in the latter, it did deliver them, but you "weren't there" to receive them.

What’s the latter?

When you order things when off planet. You have 1 game hour to retrieve them. If you spend too long in space it tends to result in the timer resetting and the items never being sent.

I guess I'm just a moron... There's no item where the pod was, it came and left. Where does it go if you miss the pod or do you just never get the item if you miss the pod?

if you miss the supply drop then you don't get anything, and you won't get refunded the items or a chance for the pod to return without having to pay for the items again.
