How much harder is single-player than multiplayer?
I often play games alone but I was interested in this game. I've only played a bit but it seems interesting so far, but how much harder is singleplayer?

Multiplayer is already too difficult imo, so I'd imagine singleplayer would be pretty bad difficulty-wise.
Its not "harder". You will just have to do multiple trips in and out to get the items wich also means you will have less time.. thats all.
I have a handful of solo-only runs, probably averaging 12+ days and 1000+ scrap value.

It's definitely different. You will lose all scrap currently in your ship if you die, you do not have a person in the ship to communicate with, and you're very limited in how much loot you can carry out with you.

It can be challenging if that's your jam, but if you're looking for fun, playing solo will get stale very quickly.
Theres a mod that tweaks a lot of stuff to a more forgiving play style, called mikes tweaks, may wanna google it for a more entertaining sp play style.
If you see ANY enemy you have to gtfo right away. You're also gonna have to make several trips to get enough items.
If there's only one of you, and you die, any scrap in your ship is lost.
If there is one guy alive that survives, you get to keep it all.

More people = faster exploration usually, plus the option to have someone man the console.

You're also missing out on watching people die, which is like 50% of the fun for me :)
The major issue is just not having someone in the ship to watch the scanner for you, so you have way less info than even a two-person group. Not unplayable, but very different.
