The autopilot is leaving due to dangerous conditions

I just started a game after not having played for a couple of months, and on my first excursion into Experimentation, I was just walking around, and suddenly got a message saying, "The autopilot is leaving due to dangerous conditions", and then the ship left without me. What is up with that?

I was playing a friends only game with one friend, who was dead, but insists that he didn't hold the right button to "Vote to Leave Early". I have never pressed that button before (no idea why there's even an option for dead people to just end the game), so the next match, I died and then pressed it to see what happens, and it gives a warning saying that the ship will leave in 1 hour, so it wasn't that. I suppose a hacker could have joined the friends-only game without anyone noticing and then made the ship leave early.. Seems like a really lame and pointless thing to do.

Well he probably did vote, whether accidentally or on purpose, and you probably happened to miss the alert. Cheaters cant join friend-only games.

Sounds more like one of your friends just decided to cheat. There is physically no way there can be a 5th player.

I dont know about changing usernames during the game, but that seems far more plausible than joining a full or already running game, which is literally impossible

I think someone was messing with you by using a different account to message you on steam, you cant make a mod to join a full game client-side. That is physically impossible. Unless the host had a mod installed there were not 5 players in the game

There can not be 5 players in the game, and just because you are friends doesn't mean one of them wouldn't want to mess with you for fun. It is impossible for a client-side 5 player mod to exist, motives don't matter, the code does. Client side mods cant change code like that.

Those can all be client-sided though, something as game changing as joining as a 5th player into an already started private game is impossible
