fox is NOT OP
Only one fox spawns, he can only one tap you if you're in his vein shroud. Use weed killer or simply hit his tongue when he tries to grab you.



EDIT: Also you can counter him because you can run the opposite direction while sprinting to give you enough time to grab your shovel again.\

edit 2: I one tapped the fox by hitting it with my car. So if you have a cruiser and you REALLYY dont want to deal with the fox, just hit it. Only one will spawn so you can just get it out of the way

I think he takes way too much damage. Only time I've been able to successfully kill it was by slamming the car into it and repeatedly shoveling it while under a stun grenade.

Edit: After more time with it, the fox is just not fun to play against. I like the idea of the weeds growing and being a problem, but weed killer is too expensive for how fast it happens. You're better off just abandoning the planet and going elsewhere. Not to mention the fox has blitzed the ship right as it lands and dragged a player to oneshot them on more than one map. Its just not fun and obviously needs tuning.

What are you supposed to do if it rushes onto the ship as soon as you land?? I keep getting spawnkilled in singleplayer because it makes you drop items and pulls you in

I can neither confirm nor deny the truthfulness of the allegations, but after his ninth death, my homie announced that upon licking you are forced to drop your shovel. I don't know if it is our play-style or something else, but we don't have enough time to explore the facility, take all of the loot to the main entrance, and have the four of us carry all the stuff back and lose a slot to the shovel. The person who commented last also has a good point; most encounters we've had with it has been on or right outside of our ship at the beginning. At the very least, please explain how you avoid it.

Yeah it almost always rushed my ship on like 4 of the moons I tried. Like we would land and the second we hit the ground it would just run in. If by some miracle we avoided it, it would just camp the ship and not its bush.

I think its a bug but there is always a lot of vain bushes front the ship at experimentation and assurance.
So we cant kill the bush with the weedkiller because of the giant number of bushes.
The car is too hard to control but its very cool to see new updates for a game like that :D

Experimentation is broken rn, indoor power was made 14 on accident when it is normally 4. I assume outdoor power is unaffected but I'm not sure. It will be fixed but assurance is going to stay the way it is I believe

So the fox has some STRANGE balancing.

It has ludicrous health, but apparently only one fox can spawn naturally on any given moon, kill it and suddenly it's no threat.

It can't deal damage to you directly, but it can drag you to an insta-kill spot that you can destroy, but you need a limited-use tool you have to buy and may not save you.

Honestly if I had to rework it, it'd be like this:

Reduce their health to two-shot kills, but open up their spawn to allow 3-5 to spawn at a time. (This may require a rework of their enemy points too). I tried spawning in a bunch of them with mods and let me tell you it's HORRIFYING being attacked by multiple of these things, much more on-brand for the game.

The tongue can drag you, but if you sprint directly away from it, it IS possible to break the latch. However, the animal will still be agroed to you and will chase you far outside their normal range slowly, this connection is only broken if you go inside the facility. This means you don't need a weapon to survive one, but if you get latched by 2-3 without one it's likely fatal. Also they shouldn't be able to spawn near the ship.


Weed killer shouldn't be limited, it's simply too obscure of a use for it to be purchased, and then for the thing to run out sometimes before you can remove all the vein plants you need. Perhaps we can fix this with mods for the time being, and in the future weed killer can be given some more uses that make it a valid purchase, but even then the weed killer should hold significantly more uses.

Me and 2 co-workers attacked the Fox and we hit it like 8 times before it died. I also had an instance where I hit it like 3 times with a shovel then threw an exploding egg at it and it survived. :l

The fox is insanely OP, there's almost no reasonable counterplay to it other than having a shovel on you at all times which is unreasonable to expect of players since managing inventory weight and space is a pivotal part of how the game works. On top of all of this and like other people mentioned, the fox can spawn-kill you.

In my experience, fox is okay on desert moons where there's ground to walk around and you can see where the weeds are. My problem is on Titan specifically, it keeps spawning on the stairs, and if it's blocking your way there is effectively no way to get around it. Plus, I think the weed killer should do something to the fox once it's spawned. Because once it spawns, and sometimes it spawns before you've landed ship, there's nothing you can really do against it even with weed killer.

TBH why even use weed killer? A designated shovel just seems like an all around better approach. There's only ever one fox per day and unlike the shovel, weed killer has limited use. It's like paying extra to put a bandaid on a problem when you already have access to virtually unlimited gauze and disinfectant.

Just saying this, sometimes, at random, it can completely just decide to insta kill you if you get too close to it with tis tongue on you or if you trapped it inside the ship with you in it.
It happened to me twice where it just insta killed me and my pal even when it was 200 metres away from the nearest bush.
