What does the magnet do?

There's a magnet on the side of the ship now and i thought it would be for the cruiser so we can take it to other moons but that doesn't seem to work. Does anyone know what it does and if you can take the cruiser to other moons?

It can be used on the brand new truck

The magnet can be activated by a switch found outside behind the ship, sorta in the corner. If the truck is close to the magnet and you turn on the switch, the truck will stick to it and you can start the ship with the truck safely attached
