The worse map in the game. There is very little in terms of redeeming qualities that makes going to this moon other than not wanting to deal with weather conditions or on rented moons to ever be here.
It is not to say that Offence doesn't have good qualities, it does... but a lot of them are overshadowed by a large amount that makes it rather terrible. First are the good points: last I checked, Offense generally has one of the higher ends in terms of interior loot that can be spawned. The Fire Exit that you can enter is also one of the best in the game, since if you can access it can drop all of your loot very close to the ship and avoid any worms, dogs, and giants (which spawn on Offense more than people would like). Due to how strong the fire exit is, it is the only map in the whole game where, if the fire exit spawns close to the main entrance, is not a terrible thing if you don't have an extension ladder or missed the pipe jump...
So what's the problem? The Interior Loot is generally terrible; vast majority are big bolts, tattered sheets, and the basic two-handed items; the most expensive item you can get is the laser pointer that maxes at 100. It has no high end loot that you would get from either free moons or the rented ones, and generally is quite underwhelming. Offense is also the second-largest interior of the free moons, which means getting all the loot will probably not happen... especially with its high chance of thumpers (26%) and coil-heads (7.5%). Although thumpers aren't necessarily a problem, the presence of them with spiders and coil heads (Which spiders have a 20% chance) is not great. Even if you can deal with them, you still have to deal with the interior hazards (turrets/mines/spikes) that often spawn along with the snare flees that can often make you take out less than 25% of the total loot amount.
There is also not much that other maps can offer to make it worthwhile... there is no special interior loot like cash registers or gold bars present. There is no bee hives, one of the only free moons that has none. It can have a nutcracker, but the chance of getting one isn't that high in comparison to experimentation and assurance that if you go to the moon you are not going to often encounter them (in fact, you are more than likely going to encounter a forest keeper or an old bird over them), so no shotguns as either weapons nor currency are going to be gotten most of the time.
If you play this game, I recommend to only do so if no other moons are available due to wanting to avoid the weather... and even in these cases, if ONE other moon is available, best go there instead. If you do go here for whatever reason, it's best to take the loot to fire if you can... if you can not, take the main entrance loot to the catwalk that most people jump to do get to the facility that often spawns and drop it down from the railing until all main entrance loot is gotten. Saves a lot of time in terms of travel. This might be one of the only moons in the game where I can say that playing Rainy is a high risk; Rainy is generally not a problem, however the amount of times pumpkins spawned on the main ladder and made it inaccessible or mud puddles have made it so that ALL paths to Offense be unavailable is... too common. If you don't want to buy an extension ladder just in case, I would not recommend anyone to go here. If you miss or just don't make the pipe jump, you are probably only bringing about 100-200 currency back to the ship (if you get any).
10. Vow
Worse Assurance. It has similar loot, however it has a far better two-handed loot (Chemical Jars) in terms of currency than Assurance alongside the Cash Register, has a higher chance of bees with supposedly a higher max quantity. Its fire exit is very close to Main Entrance, and has multiple ways to get to the Main with getting to Fire tied to this...
So what's bad about it? The maximum and minimum loot amount inside is less than Assurance. Although this map has the highest chance of Bracken, it is not the worse part about the map... it's the fact that Coil Heads can exist. The amount of times that Coil Heads spawn despite being a sub-2% chance of spawning... is scarily quite high, despite not generally playing this map all too much. Not only is the coil head a relatively bad enemy to have in your map (in fact, it is the only enemy in the game I can think of that can outright halt a day, even the Jester has less power) due to how they work... and sometimes don't work (like opening doors instantly despite having a rule established to open it at around 15 seconds, or them still moving despite one or multiple people looking at the coil head at once). Due to the Bracken being a keypoint feature, it also means that it is the only free moon that doesn't have a nutcracker... although this doesn't matter all that much, it means that there is no chance of ever getting added loot through the enemies in the interior.
Speaking of enemy loot, we need to talk about the bees. Bees are a highly prized, highly valuable item that many people will get... it is hard not to see why that is the case 'sometimes'. The issue with bees in all the maps they are in, however, is actually how TOO LOW of a chance they have spawning. Despite Vow being one of the Bee Moons that people treasure, the chance of bees spawning is only 25%. Now for many, that can seem quite high, but the amount of times that bees not spawning on Vow is pretty high... and the fact that Bees also have WIDE currency value is also a huge value. Yes, a Bee Hive can be worth 150 dollars... and a bee hive can be worth around 40... and when one Bee Hive is worth that specific amount, ALL Bee Hives that exist ALSO have the same currency value. That means, even if you are somehow lucky in getting up to somehow 6 bee hives on Vow, you need to pray that they don't low ball the currency amount and screw you over.
Overall, I have collected more bee hives on other maps over Vow. That isn't to say that it isn't a factor that gives it a benefit, in fact its one of the reasons why it is better than Offense, but the fact that Vow relies on a mechanic that is not always reliable in giving is rather terrible.
It is also the map with the highest Giant amount, with no Old Birds to deal with them. Granted, dealing with them is all not that difficult so long as they are not in a terrible position; the breakable bridge can make sending them down to the ravine rather useful, and once you get past the Ravine you can use the hills and trees for cover... but Giants are still quite dangerous. Any item that weighs you down is more of a burden than ever dealing with the Earth Leviathans (Worms). Due to their existence, the Ravine/Fire Exit is a DEATH TRAP, especially since Giants can spawn in there. Granted, I have snuck past a giant twice when we were both in there... but it's not ideal. It is also one of the moons that is impacted the worse by Flooding due to the Fire Exit being useless to use in most cases. I won't pass Vow if it's available and in fact will choose over Experimentation due to the loot, but its not great. The fact that its loot amount is also relatively smaller than Assurance despite having a larger interior is not great either.
9. Embrion
This might surprise people, especially due to the existence of Offense and its placement, but there are reasons for it. First we should talk about the obvious bad things: No Bee Hives, Offense and Embrion have a VERY similar interior item loot amount, Embrion has perhaps the highest chance of the most interior hazards alongside the enemies that spawn there, and it is the only map that is NOT recommended to pull the Apparatus... an assured 80 dollar item that the player can get in most facility maps, due to the existence of its gimmick: Old Birds. And with the Old Birds, leads to a rather open exterior. This is summed up with it being a moon that is rented, being 150 dollar cost rather than free. With all of these factors, this should be a terrible map.
So, what ARE the redeeming qualities? What makes it better than both Vow and Offense? Simple: Easter Eggs and Nutcrackers. Although Tattered Metal like Offense and March are rather too high of a chance of spawn, the second-most likely item to spawn in the map are Easter Eggs. Nutcrackers have a relatively high chance of spawning, almost 8% chance, and most of the time I have played Embrion there is at least a single Nutcracker that exists. Even if you didn't bring a shovel, the high chance of Easter Eggs as well as other items such as there being a chance of Stop Signs makes it a good make-shift location to get shotguns when you didn't bring one. I have also noticed that the spiked crushers are actually a blessing in disguise... the amount of enemy corpses I have seen and the amount of times I have either been told or seen Brackens get killed by them is surprisingly high... and since this map has perhaps the highest chance of such crushers, that means that you will get a lot of dead enemies... maybe even Nutcrackers?
Then there is the Interior. The first thing to note is that Old Birds are far easier to deal with than Forest Keepers overall, due to Old Birds being rather chaotic and their vision being lesser. I do recommend that when you play this to AVOID going to the Main Entrance; go to the Fire Exit instead. The Fire Exist has a lot of cover that you can use in order to avoid the Old Birds that are spawned. Alongside this, Old Birds will ensure that all other enemies, particularly Dogs and Giants, will be exterminated. The only problem that can happen is when Old Birds begin to swarm the ship due to others entering it. For the sake of yourself and others, it is best to close the door of the ship when you enter and pick a corner to hide in until they begin to dissipate, perhaps purchase a few stun grenades to help the players enter. That being said, unlike Giants Old Birds do not instant-grab you if you run into them, since they have a grab animation that makes them far less dangerous... that means running past them is not impossible even when they enter that 'grabbing range'.
I do think that it being 150 dollars means that I will play it less than Offence when emergencies arrive, although I will often pick Embrion due to the 'fun' of the map. Unfortunately the value of the map is still relatively comparable to Offense and Vow in terms of its issues (Vow's Bees in comparison to Embrion's Nutcrackers, and Offense's Loot Value that it offers). That being said, beside Assurance and Experimentation as they are both the same size, Embrion has the 2nd smallest map size of being 1.1x. That means finding loot is a lot easier overall. If you want the Apparatus, make sure that at least one person is already in the ship and the other loot has mostly/all been taken back... then enjoy the chaos. Overall an enjoyable gimmick map for what it is, although in most cases would rather spend it on a disco ball or cosmetic costumes over going to the moon any day.
8. Experimentation
Yes. Experimentation is better than the three maps above... despite being the lowest tier moon in terms of average value. In fact, due to its map size, it is often compared to Assurance a lot and comparing them both leads Experimentation to be rather damning...
So what makes it better than the other three then? For one, Experimentation generally only has Dogs and Worms, and the exterior map is very strong. There is a clear wall that has no enemies ever enter it (up the ladders), and the map is surprisingly quite large... large enough that many worms and dogs are often lost somewhere else even when they spawn. It also has a 15% chance of spawning bees... this is perhaps one of the lowest of the maps, but the fact that it 'can' spawn bees makes it better than Offense...
Which also goes to the interior loot. It has both Cash Registers and Gold Bars having a chance to spawn. It also has a chance of spawning rare enemies such as Nutcrackers... now the chance of all of these things is sub 1% chance of spawning... but when they spawn, they turn the value of the moon from on average being usually around 300... to having a greater chance of jumping up to 700 or 800. I have seen both Cash and Gold a few times on Experimentation, and I know someone who killed a Nutcracker that spawned there with a Yield Sign.
Then there is the size of the map and the interior enemy spawns... the spawns are relatively the same as Assurance, with a slightly higher chance of Nutcracker and Ghost Girl as rare enemies over Ass, with Bunkers and Snares being the most common... both of the bugs being generally stationary enemies that 'usually' can be avoided so long as they are not in absolutely terrible spots. The Fire and Main are also close to each other, so if you are having any kind of problems with one, you can go to the other.
If you have the best dice rolls, you can have loot that rivals or even surpasses the average of the other free moons... and if you are having especially terrible luck, you can have a Forest Giant protecting the ship with a Ghost Girl being a rather nuisance with the maximum loot that you could ever get being just below 200. Not the worse bad luck one can get in terms of hostility, but the loot value is especially terrible, even for 1st Quota. I do not recommend most experienced players to go here...
But that is the thing, however; Experimentation is the tutorial moon, the easiest and safest moon in contrast to most of the others. For a moon with generally the lowest reward, it also has the lowest risk. Its function as such is generally a success for the vast majority of newbies. Even for me, if I had to choose either Offense or Experimentation, I would choose Experimentation. Offense has a higher risk with relatively mutual if not less reward than the other free moons on average, whilst with Experimentation it not only is a lot less lethal than Offense, but can outright just surpass it in loot capacity. It's actually quite pathetic.
If you play this and go to fire exit, I recommend going down the first steps and dropping the items down from above similar to how most do with Titan at the Main Entrance. Drop the items down from the stairwell to the bottom of the stairwell with the help of gravity without jumping down. When it is time to leave, jump off the stairs to the small ledge on the left to avoid fall damage, and then fall to the ground to again avoid such. A number of items may fall into the pillar that has no collision that you can walk into (a developer oversight). When you start bringing stuff to the ship, it will more than likely hide within this not-obstacle. Also be aware that 'sometimes' the Main Entrance may be closed due to the shutter there. Make sure you know where the Fire Exit is inside of the facility just in case it closes down.
A favourite for many, and in my opinion rather overrated. March like its Rented cousin is the gambler's moon. It has a lot of chances where it can be very good... and a lot of chances where it can be fairly horrible. When it comes to the free moons, many will often compare March and Assurance to see which one was the best pre-V50... in this case, March for me is worse. The amount of times I have gotten most/all loot on Assurance is very high... and with March? Too low.
What does March Offer? It offers the most amount of Bees of the moons. It offers the most amount of entrances thanks to the existence of the three fire exits instead of one. It offers also a good chance of gold bars and even cash registers similar to Experimentation. These factors should be in its favour. Key word is 'should'.
March has the 2nd largest interior of all maps... even the rent moons, March is far larger than any of them... and with a loot maximum and minimum being outright akin to Assurance, that makes it absolutely horrendous. Now some would argue "Yes, but fire exits"... but the amount of times that Fire Exits have all spawned together and even the Main Entrance makes it rather unreliable. There is also a good chance of the Interior being filled with terrible scrap... there is a high chance of tattered and big bolts on this alongside the main three two-handed items that pollutes most of the free moons. Even with Assurance, I find that there is a better chance of getting descent one-handed loot overall, which makes it far more reliable. Although there is a chance of Gold Bars and Registers, the fact that the chance is around 0.5% or less is rather underwhelming and not something to gamble one.
Then there are the Bees. At most, there can be 7... at worse, there can be 0. And the chance of Bee spawns is around 35%ish... so there is a good chance that bees will not spawn. There is also a chance that the bees can be worth 60 currency or less. It is also, perhaps, the largest exterior map of all the maps in the game... that means that, even if Bees spawn, there is a good chance that you will never find them due to them not being located in the general paths that player takes, instead hidden somewhere else entirely out of general player traffic.
The fact that the moon also has a high chance of baboon hawks as well as there being flooding leads it to be worse than Vow, it's lesser sister moon... A flooded March means that 2 of the 3 fire exits become useless at the very start of the game, and both said 2 flooded doors as well as the main entrance can be looted by Baboon Hawks... and with there being a high chance of two-handed objects, this is probably a problem you will face. That with giants being also quite common, that leads this to be especially dangerous.
I do recommend that, if you do March, run out the door and to the opposite side of the ship and then jump off onto the mountains by jumping slightly forward/right... you will be able to get to the back fire exit before 8:20 if you are quick enough and are carrying nothing, even 8:10 at times. The Fire Exit is the best one due to its concrete lip; if you put objects on here, Baboon Hawks will not be able to take them and instead will 'hover' over there being helpless (especially against signs or shovels). If you have a bee that is relatively far away and fire exits are somewhat close by in the interior... use them to bring bees in. I have done it a few times, and can be quite reliable. Just be sure that the others are either at the ship or inside, tell them that you are doing so, and when you bring them back to the ship LEAVE the empty nest outside of the ship just in case the wandering bees follow suit.
I do recommend overall to pick Ass over March; I have found too many times that the game ends with around 100-200 loot due to no bees and no one finding anything of value due to being so buried deep into the map. Most times, expect to pick up trash loot on this map, not high loot, when going in the interior. This map is too dependent on RNG to be favourable to actually be good. Pick Adam or Ass over this if you want high loot quantity.
6. Titan
The first rented moon listed, and perhaps the most controversial despite being the 2nd highest tier in comparison to the other moons in terms of average value... but there are a lot of reasons why it is here. The reasons that it is here is the reason why March is here: Titan is, at its core, another Gambler Moon. A Moon that many treasure due to getting a high chance of loot... but that chance can be sullied very quickly by the role of the dice, more than its seemingly lesser or greater rentable moons.
The interior is the largest in the game. This can be a severe problem for many; this means that, if the average loot is spawned near the entrance or fire, it can be great... if it spawns at the farthest end of the interior, you are screwed. Even worse if it is a Mansion instead of a Facility due to how each room of a Mansion taking more time to traverse than the Facility's. It also having a good chance of the Fire Exit NOT spawning in your favour, especially if it spawns close to the main entrance... and unlike March, where it has three fire exits to lower that chance, Titan only has one.
So what makes it good? It has the second-highest in terms of interior loot, with the loot being on average better than the free moons in most cases with a good amount offering 100 or more currency. The fact that it is a facility map instead of mansion means taht most of the items will spawn within 'loot rooms', rather than being spread out. It doesn't mean that items won't spawn in parts of the facility like the maze, but it means that most will often be within one of the many item rooms, the apparatus rooms, the factory room, or the locker room. Terminal Doors also exist, which allows the player to deal with both coil heads and jesters fairly well. Once you have items, you can drop all of your items down from the ledge into the massive catwalk platform without the use of the Extension Ladder to make grabbing and taking the loot to the ship very, very fast...
And that is it. If you get a Mansion, playing on Titan and finding loot becomes usually far harder to do. If the Fire Exit is close to Mansion, and the items are all spawned at the farthest part of the map, that can be very bad. Then there is the catwalk trick of dropping items; the amount of times that players are generally softlocked from collecting the items from there due to the existence of dogs and giants that horde around the double-edge sword is high. Very high. A lot of players I have seen often have to leave a lot of loot early because two or more giants are spawned and hording around the stairs and slows it down. The enemy that has the highest chance of spawning in the interior is also the Jester... the Jester being the worst enemy to have to deal with if you have to go deep into the interior to 'find anything', and makes the entire extension slow down... sometimes leave with 25% or less of the loot.
Now I often bring a shovel and stuns at least to deal with this... but a lot of people like to go here 'right away' for the 'chance' of high loot with no equipment. These types of people showcase ultimately the weakness of this map, and in my opinion is rather overrated. The amount of hosts who often get 700 for the first quota and not get much of any equipment of any kind and simply go there and failed of getting more than what others could get in a free moon like Assurance is quite high. I recommend going to Titan WHEN you get equipment, NOT when you have nothing. Hoping for the 'chance' of the map to spawn assets without the means to help in case the map decides to spawn the hazards that make this map rather unreliable or not having even a shovel for mimics or nutcrackers makes you simply a fool.
Yes. Titan has a good amount to offer when you have the chance to, but even experts may only get about 50% or less depending on how well the items spawn inside. It is a map that heavily relies on Chance, and on contrast to other costly maps, it is rather undesirable. If the map of Titan was smaller that might change, but due to how Coil Heads and Jesters work the two can turn the entire moon into a disaster super quickly.
5. Adamance
The free moon with the highest loot amount that can spawn in the interior, and up to 6 bees can spawn on the map. Although it still has V-Engines being rather high in terms of spawn chance as a two-handed, the most popular two-handed map on this map are Chemical Jars, that are worth more than the common three two-handeds that pollute the free moons and even the rented ones. Unlike Offense and March, the interior items that spawn as the most common are generally more valuable than tattered metal, bolts, and the three common two-handers (despite said 5 still being present). Butlers and Nutcrackers also have an above 2% chance of spawning that adds further to the loot table, with a high chance of facility that offers an Apparatus which can help, especially if Old Birds exists (more on there later). This map on average has the best average loot amount to be gained, with the general average being around 800-900 whilst the Tier 2 moons of Ass/Vow/Emb/Mar/Off being on average around 500. It does not mean that Adamance can reach to a low of 500, but on average is quite reliable in terms of reward.
The issue with having the highest reward, however, is the highest risk of the free moons. The Death Pit is best avoided in most cases. Unless there is an Old Bird that spawns, you will have to deal with an excess amount of Baboons, Giants, and Dogs acting as obstacles. You have both a main bridge that breaks easily if trying to run over it even with no weight, and the fire exit jump that can be used when broken but it is still dangerous to use once broken.
It also has a good chance of mimics, just above 1%. For most that might not seem like much... but the amount of Mimics that have happened on the map for me is surprisingly high. Just be aware that like other maps they can spawn in (Rend/Titan/Arti), that they can walk out... usually they are killed by most entities, but you would be surprised how far they will go. This is a map that, with the Baboons, you should be entering only if you have signs or shovels to deal with them. Unlike March getting a lot of Bees is not too difficult, and you can use both its no weight to get across the breakable bridge if they spawn near the main entrance or jump over the fire exit if feeling risky.
I do recommend getting an Extension Ladder and a few shovels before coming here at least, with some stuns on reserve. Use the Extension Ladder at the fire exit jump on the fire exit/main side in order to drop any heavy items onto the unbreakable platform. Baboons will not take any loot that you leave on this platform. You can have a chance of crossing the bridge if you are around 20 or less pounds, but you need to sprint all the way and there is a chance that it can break. If you are weighing 60 pounds or more, likely with yield signs/chemical jars/cash registers, then you can miss the fire exit jump when not using the extension ladder. If the fire exit jump breaks and you don't have an extension ladder (or trying to bring the ladder back), you can jump onto the pillar that is left standing back and forth. It takes practice, but it is reliable. When you have extension ladder and many items, leaving them either at the fire exit door or on the roof of it is the best chance of avoiding baboons from stealing them, though I have seen them go to the front of the fire and they have gotten onto the fire exit roof and have been... frozen, in place once they have accidentally slipped on there. Play this when you can trust your crew and have a full crew only, not a map for solo players.
It needs to be said that despite the Exterior being hostile, the Interior is smaller than both Offense and March, and almost the same size as Vow... that means there is an easier chance for players to explore the interior of Adamance entirely unlike Offense and especially March... and also means that collecting and finding all of the interior loot is easier than both. It can spawn enemies like Masked and Butlers that are generally high-end moon exclusives, but they can also be a blessing in disguised; a shovel wielder will generally have an easier time killing Masked than even Hoarding Bugs, and a Butler means that if you are paired with someone else that Butler is wasting a power level that could have been used by other hostiles, and can be perhaps scavenged for their knife.
4. Assurance
The best free moon. No questions asked. Do you want to collect around 1500-2000 currency consistently per quota, then go here. Usually when playing this, I always get on average 500-600, with the lows being only with bad luck yet have reached up to 900 here thanks to bees, cash registers, and gift box/apparatus. Overall, Assurance is a great map if you want to either go to any purchased moon (even Artifice), or getting all the ship equipment and player supplies that you desire.
There is not a lot bad about this map. There isn't any map halters like coil heads or jesters that pollutes most maps, it has the smallest map next to Experimentation, it can have up to 4/5 bee hives that makes this a great bonus when it does, the general loot that is spawned here has stop signs and cookie cutter sheets replacing axels and tattered sheets as having the highest chance to spawn in contrast to March, with there being a lot of descent loot that spawns here.
So what is the bad of this map? Generally speaking, Snare Flees, Hoarding Bugs, and Spiders spawn here. If you have a shovel, Snares and Hoardings will be no problem. The only problem of Spiders is when they spawn in especially annoying places... now, people often talk about how 'easy' it is to shovel them... and the people that say this generally dies to spiders. That being said, the interior is overall a lot less dangerous even with hazards in contrast to other moons.
The Exterior has a chance of Forest Keepers... but despite being the most played map, I have seen 0. I am also the guy that has seen Ghost Girl on this map 4 times and the Nutcracker twice. Most of the time it is going to be baboons, dogs, and worms... out of the exterior enemies, this is generally quite tame.
You should always go to Assurance as much as you can. Obviously its better to go on to a clear moon if Assurance is not either Clear nor Rainy, but it is the best chance of getting loot... loot that on average often puts most of the other free moons, even March, to shame. If you want 1500-2000 currency easy, always go to Assurance. March and Adamance 'can' give more, but Adamance is more hostile and March relies too much onto chance. Assurance is so good in fact, that even on solo you can probably collect all loot inside with relative ease. Whatever hints I have for this map people already know, but if you want to get to Main relatively quickly by about 8:15 or 8:20, sprint to the back of the ship after exiting the door and jump onto the slop hill behind, then jump off the cliff and take a straight left to the main ladder if you can. Everyone already knows about dropping stuff down the pipe or Fire Exit as well as jumping onto the Pipe, and if you don't then everyone else will tell you how. It is that strong and powerful that everyone pretty much knows the basic knowledge of the exterior map.
You go to this map as being the cheapest of the purchases high-end moons when you both want shotguns and a greater chance of the least hostile interior... and that's the good parts of Rend. 20% Nutcracker Chance means that it isn't uncommon that a good team can get around 6-8 shotguns if the dice are kind. There is also a chance that none spawn however, with the similar issue that pollutes bees. Like most purchased moons, Rend has nothing to offer outside other than the lack of Baboons taking items...
Before v50, this was the map most people will witness Masked, and also has the worse fire exit of the purchased moons in my opinion. Although it is not impossible to deal with the exterior enemies such as Giants, the lack of much cover on the map and the low visibility makes Giants especially dangerous when carrying high-end two-handed loot such as Lamps, Paintings, and Cash Registers. Stun Grenades should be something that players should have on the ship in case they spawn.
There is also the issue of the interior enemies... with Nutcrackers being the most popular, the 2nd most popular is the Jester... something that can stop most player's progress from collecting all the loot. Although I have collected up to 1000-1500 on this map a lot, there are many times that once a Jester Spawns much progress can be halted too early... especially if they spawn at 9am or less. That can be very bad, and a good chance of coil heads and ghost girls with the bracken can also be bad.
That being said, it is still a good map overall. There is a reason why Rend was so popular in V49; as Titan is to March, Rend is to Assurance. Rend was the most reliable of the costly moons, and on average many would go to the moon because of not just the shotguns one could collect, but the fact that you can collect a lot of loot fairly well, sometimes all of item, way more than Titan has a chance. If you want a reliable moon and can't afford the next two mentioned, go here. The fact that it is the only map in the entire game that doesn't have turrets and has a low chance of mines and spikes makes it favoured by many, especially since the common player killer probably goes to turrets above anything else.
2. Dine
The opposite of Rend in every way. Dine has less exterior hostiles and has a lot of vision barriers that makes giants and old birds less of a problem... and one of the few maps that old birds spawn. A good way to remove Giants and Dogs that exists and with the many walls of mountains makes avoiding them easy if they spawn... if not, then you can still avoid Giants fairly well.
Fire Exit and Main are very close... so close in fact, that simply sprinting once you land can get you to fire exit at around 8:20 on average, as well as main. Getting in and out is very quick and fast paced. There is very little light to guide you, so it is best for you to remember the general layout of the map. I DO NOT RECOMMEND you to go out when it is 9-11pm without a pro flashlight; this map gets pitch back fairly quickly and it is very easy to go blind.
The average loot of this map is higher than Rend. At its standpoint, that makes it more appealing despite only costing 50 dollars more, in contrast to Titan... the catch is that, unlike Masked and Nutcrackers being the general gimmick of Rend with a wide open exterior, Dine has an interior that greatly uses turrets, mines, and butlers. Hazards are the main game of this map, and with Butlers being the most prominent enemy with a 43% chance (this chance being more than any interior enemy of any moon as far as I remember and know) of spawning makes this a map where going alone in any way is BAD. Go to Dine in Pairs, two fire and two main, and have each other warn and communicate as much as you can and work together. This is, in many ways, actually a good thing: Butlers take up 2 power level in the game, and a max of 7 can spawn... equating to a maximum possible total of 14. Dine has a max interior power of 16. That means that, even if all 7 do not spawn, there is going to be a lot of enemy slots that are taken that will NOT be used by others. This means that you, the player, will more than likely just deal with mines, turrets, and the most common enemies... being Brackens and Hoarding Bugs. Jesters also have a lower chance of spawning over the other purchased high-tier moons, being only 5% whilst the others are around 10% or higher.
Now that doesn't mean that the interior hostiles that spawn won't be bad... it just means that there is a low chance of it. This map makes use of Butlers and its Hazards as its gimmick, and thus it is the Gimmick you will more than likely have to deal with. I recommend killing Nutcrackers that spawn on the map first over Butlers, and save killing the Butlers until around 5pm... and do it with a shotgun or easter egg, NOT a shovel. You will more than likely die or be heavily damage if you do it, even with two people... and if there are more than one butler together, you will not shovel them without casualties in most circumstances. They are also the only enemy in the game that outright knocks people off of the 'safety' bookshelves that people jump on that even stops Jesters from chasing and eating them. Thankfully once you have a knife, they seem to die with a single hit with them supposedly, so do so when you get a knife to get more. When you start doing this, the Butlers begin to turn into free loot... it is also recommended not to kill Butlers until 5pm so that the Butlers don't get replaced by the butler hornets.
1. Artifice
The new Titan as the best map, and unlike Titan is actually always worth it to go there. The low minimum interior loot is Titan's maximum, and the interior loot of Artifice has above 2% chance of being cash registers and gold bars, with Gold Bar being almost 3% Chance of Spawn... getting 2-3 Gold Bars on this map, even more, is not unheard of. It also can spawn bees outside, the only high-end moon that does so and in fact the only purchased moon (even Embrion).
Old Birds have the highest chance of spawning, and with both a gimmick of being able to shut them into garages (along with other enemies) and lots of cover it is always good when they spawn... especially since they kill other hostiles like Baboons and Giants, Baboons in which can be a nuisance if they steal items from fire or main exterior. Hoarding Bugs also can exist as well, and having a relatively large interior having them take your items you left at main/fire interior can be a pain especially since you have less likely of a chance of finding their nest and can easily miss it when everyone isn't at the entrances.
That being said, most of the enemies that spawn has an average of 7% chance of spawning, with exceptions being most of the killable enemies including Nuts and Butlers having a 8% chance of spawning, with Ghost Girl being the least likely chance as it is 3%. That being said, it is an overall average spread of enemy spawns, meaning that anything is really possible... Jesters also have around 8% chance of spawning, although it is less than all other 8% chance spawning enemies. It is also the moon that has an easier chance of being either facility or mansion despite being mainly mansion over the other moons, so expect to get either or when going there.
Thanks to Assurance, I have easily reached Artifice on both 1st and 2nd quota, although I usually only go on the 2nd quota after purchasing the necessary equipment and tools just in case. By 4th and 5th quota, I had above over 5000 currency on the ship. Do not go to Titan if you want high yield jobs; go here instead. The Exterior surprisingly is far safer than Titan despite Titan's exterior being so small, and the Interior being smaller than ALL of the purchased moons with a 1.6 (in contrast to Dine/Rend being 1.8 and Titan being 2.2) means that finding all the loot? Far easier. I already was able to find most/all of the loot on Rend easily; Artifice is the easiest.
Like Ass, Art is a map that is so popular that most hints for this map are already known... including the shed connected to the fencing near the fire exit that can act as an alternative means to reaching the ship when the main way is too hostile. Go here if you can afford to, go here for easy loot. It is still very, very dangerous... and the dice of the game can still screw you over like pretty much the vast majority of maps. Unlike Titan however, the Dice is far more forgiving IMO. Go here instead. I have collected above 75% of the loot on this map very easily.
I hope this was somewhat enjoyable. Feel free how you feel about some of these. These are the moons that I generally favour whenever I play these games thanks to both the interior size, average loot yield, average hostile and hazards, and the exterior layout as a whole. Generally, I will choose Adamance and Assurance when applicable, and then Rend, Dine, and Artifice for the purchased. All other moons I don't necessarily dislike (I like Embrion a lot), and may go to for different reasons (other than Offense), but overall these are my feelings of the maps.
So here is a TL;DR list of my preferences of V50.4; might change if they fixed the loot and fire exit generation so a certain amount of loot is generated at certain distances of the map, and the fire exit had a minimum generated distance from the main entrance (and other fire exits as with March), but as of now Assurance is a far better map than March even if March has a 'chance' of more bees and gold bars, and Artifice is far superior than Titan any day. Would rather play on Rend or Dine than Titan, and if none can be chosen without bad weather then Assurance and wait until the next day. The reason the other maps are chosen are already given an explanation.
