Why the heck is the FPS so terrible???
I'm Running a RTX 4070 OC 12gb Card. This game doesn't even require that I could run this game on my laptop I use for office work.

What bugs me is that My system can Run stuff like Red dead redemption 2 and Other significantly more graphic intensive games. Like Doom eternal. And Baulders Gate 3.

This game barely scratches the surface or should on my GPU

Specs

Intel i5 13600k

32gb Ram

Rtx 4070

I really don't understand why its Dropping into like low 20 and even 15 fps.

Game is just terribly optimised, I doubt the dev will do anything about it.

Creating a game that runs well is not easy and even for large, experienced teams that can take years to test, performance improvements will show up in post launch patches. This is a $10 early access title made by one person.

Thats fair however my friend on his RTX 4060 Runs the game just fine with mods. I'm running it just Vanilla and it runs Horrid. So I'm just curious if there was a fix or something that -I- Can do on my end that Might be able to fix the issue.

I feel like its possible the game might be -Somehow- using my CPU's Integrated graphics rather than my GPU I have both of my monitors plugged into the GPU and not the motherboard. So I'm not sure how it would be accomplishing it.

I was also told by one of my friends depending on where the game is saved it will run poorer.

I could do a clean install And Run Steams dl fixer (I forgot what its called.) But I'm not sure if that would fix the whole thing if I decide to Run mods.

He is rendering the entire map at all times, using several different shaders that are designed for cinematic things instead of gameplay, and a bunch of other blatantly obvious and easy to avoid things.

What you're doing right now is like receiving a steak that's currently frozen, not even thawed, and saying that it takes years for experienced teams to perfect being able to actually cook the steak.

Edit: Actually, with all of the weird crap he set up, it's not even like that. He could have just used out-of-the-box settings for Unity and the game would run better. So a better comparison would be if the restaurant saw that they could order pre-cooked steaks, or refrigerated steaks. They bought refrigerated steaks, then put them in a freezer along with some dry ice for good measure, then gave you the steaks after they froze. Going out of their way to make the steaks as uncooked as possible before handing them to you.

I run on a very old laptop and i use mods i never have experinced anything like this but what mod loader are you using nexus or thunderstore cause i use thunderstore and i dont lag
unless i have like 100+ mods idk how nexus works but maybe try smaller mods like late company, more company, skinwalkers, mimics, masked overhaul ect if that doesnt work than idk

For reference, I'm running the game on a GTX 970 which is below minimum requirements (+ 32 GB RAM, Ryzen 7) on Linux and it always runs buttery smooth even with a bunch of mods.

As a GTX 1080 user, I see no problem. I always run at a nice as rice, 150 FPS. I think you're PC just has a skill issue.

That's a lie. Sure you get 150fps on ship with no loot. With a actual good run, a ship with loot and with entities around. 30-90fps

Not really, lowest I FPS I got was 100 and that was cause a troll was trying to break the game by spamming the server with cheat commands.

I only had performance problems when I used a mod pack of more than 100 mods, other than that the game runs quite well.

It's Something Called R2modman.
Tricksz Apr 18, 2024 @ 7:32am
the performance issue is because of two things, the first one is because the game is made with unity and the second one is because the game is in early access and in game dev the optimisation come at the very end
Façade Apr 18, 2024 @ 7:42am
Second on that gtx 1080, I get about 200 fps on the ship, and no lower than a hundred running around outside. That's also with mods using r2modman. But I usually play with the fps capped at 60 and only checked the other day out of curiosity.

Rest of my specs is i7-8700k and 16gb ddr4 ram 3200mhz. I also don't overclock anything and run 3 monitors off my single gpu while recording with obs and streaming.

I honestly don't see how it's possible at all for it to be using your integrated graphics but I'm not the most hardware savvy person, but if people with a PC worse than mine can run the game no problem then yours definitely should also. It definitely isn't the most optimized game though.

Hopefully more optimization mods might come out that will help, but maybe try mods like HDLethalCompany? And just try different things like lowering the fog quality or removing it or lowering the resolution scale or textures, just anything to see if it helps any.

Both of these are completely made up. I already said the reasons for the performance issues. The developer is choosing to go out of his way to make the game run as bad as he can for some reason. It would literally be less work for him to make the game run better. Unity games can run fine, and optimization most certainly does not come at the end. Why would you want to make an entire game, then scrap large portions of it and completely remake them from scratch? That's so wasteful.
