Voice Chat
I understand that voice chat is a huge part of this game. Is playing without VC viable at all? I tend to avoid VC because recording devices creep me out.

Hoping to avoid a debate about the matter, just wanting to hear from people who have at least experimented with VC not in use, and if VC is truly required to enjoy the game with a friend.

Most of the time I don't bother using a Mic. People may say you need one to better help your teammates ect but I've pretty much contributed more loot towards the ship than a person with a mic.

Also you may say "you need a mic for the monitor guy telling you where the loot is over the walkie" I have ears, I can still follow their directions, do you reply to your sat-nav while driving?

This is what I was wanting to hear. To me, this question is similar to one for another game I play: Deep Rock Galactic. People insist that the ONLY way to play the game is co-op, but I had a great experience playing it solo. It was almost like 2 separate games, and the people who insist on it being one way are just needlessly drawing a box around what the game is supposed to be.

There are plenty of people playing without mics. I even named my server "no kids / no mutes" because there are so many players without microphones.
Mic makes it a lot more fun imo.
But it can easily be played without one, even singleplayer is fun.

The game is still great without a mic. I personally prefer playing with vc because it adds more to the experience but it rally isn't necessary to enjoy the game

I prefer to play with vc due to it makes the game more exhilarating and immersive. I wouldn't say its forced but it's just easier to use your mic RATHER than typing everything you want to say.

That makes sense, just like any other game with VC I suppose.

If you would like an unbiased viewpoint, it is how you feel that you contribute to the team. So in most cases its handy having VC capabilities, but for me, i have fun talking and making fun of squeakers. but in no way will i turn down a player because they dont have VC.

That's good to hear also. I acknowledge the utility of VC, maybe the friends I was talking to previously about the game just had a more hardcore attitude about it.

If my knowledge is correct, when you have a walkie-talkie on other players with active walkie-talkies will get messages you type. And you don't need a mic connected for it to work. Hope this knowledge helps in your endeavors.
