There is no skill involved when the game's RNG literally says "Lol, ur ded".
There is skill in it, but I understand why some people might think it's completely unavoidable.
The "random" lightning strikes aren't exactly random. WHEN they strike the player IS, but the spots where they CAN strike aren't random. So you just have to avoid those spots.
You could also use conductive items to lure lightning there instead.
It's not exactly explained outright, but speedrunners know of this.
