Apparently though, if you sell more than required, then your next quota will be set higher than it would have been if you'd simply sold what was required.
Again, this is all what I could gather from personal experience, so I don't have a definitive answer.
At the end of my first quota I usually sell enough to have some basic equipment (pro flash/shovel/walkie, etc.) and to go to a payed moon, if I manage; but that's up to you and your team's personal preference.
